HOW OFTEN DO YOU CALL YOUR MOM?

According to the folks over at Real Simple who did a survey with their Facebook fans, 57% of you are calling mom on the regular, but the real surprise was that 6% stay in contact with their mothers via e-mail only, and 6% actually waited to get a call first.  It was also interesting to see that 3% hardly made any contact at all, however, this crew  talked for a long period of time to make up for all that neglect.

My son will call, but his preferred method to reach me is by text because he refuses to use voicemail, the antiquated way of leaving a message. He knows me pretty well, because anyone who leaves a voicemail may get a return call about a week or so later.

I think he's also figured out that it's best for him to reach out and touch most of the time in order to avoid me calling his cell phone at 3am in the morning just to chat.  It's a win-win in my opinion.

  5. I'm living at home at the moment, but when I wasn't my mom and I were on the phone for hours every day. I missed her too much not to call her and like you said she would call me at 1 a.m. wondering what I was doing. Lol

    1. As I get older, I realize the importance of spending time with family and glad that you live home so you can each get support. Glad you've minimized those 1am phone calls! (lol)

  6. My mom doesn't text! Like, she physically does not want to learn. But I call her every day! Clockwork, at the same time every day. I live near my university, and so I don't see my parents often. I used to try and go home every weekend, but now it's like twice a month. Which isn't bad! I still call her every day. And I text my dad a few times a week, though he doesn't mind, because as long as I talk to my mom, it's good. They're married and live together so if one talked to me that day, the other will know :D I know I'm an outlier (people in college do NOT call their parents, except for holidays or when they need money, which sounds cliche, but it's true). Sad fact of life!

    1. That's totally awesome that you stay in touch with either mom or dad because they want to know you're doing ok. I actually saw very few kids calling their parents initially when they were in 1st semester, but it started to change a little. I was the same way a few years back with texting. (lol) I have spurts of talking for long periods of time on the phone, then there are other days I quickly text a message and we're done. Hugs...Ro

  8. I call my mom every evening, but she's got Alzheimer's, so I'm not sure she knows when she's talking to me or when she isn't. I love my mom, that's why I call her every day, but I also dread those calls... :/

    1. That's got to be rough, but I think the repetition of you calling your mom and hearing your voice makes her feel better. Continue to hang in there! Hugs...Ro

  10. I call my mom twice a week and it usually ends up with me yelling into the phone, lols. She is so easily distracted (like me). She's watching TV or talking to someone else ;D

    1. Both you guys sound so much like me. I absolutely canNOT speak on the phone and watch something on television at the same time. Sadly, the person on the other end is going to be almost totally ignored, (lol) so the conversation is usually brief. Hugs...Ro
