FUN STUFF & SOME CRAZY LAWS

GET MORE REST
A recent study of over 60,000 women found that those who slept less than 5 hours versus a full 7 hours, are more likely to gain weight.  I thought that was a myth, but over the years have found this to be true.   No more night time snacking for me!

READING SLUMP?
We keep staring at our TBR pile, and going  through it, but nothing seems to grab our attention. It really seems to happen even more when the weather gets warmer. You just don't feel like reading any of those dang books.

Some people just take a break for a while, and eventually something grabs our attention.  If you've been reading one genre for a really long time, maybe it's time to switch it up a little with something new, to get that excitement back.  That's what I've been doing for the past year or so, and it's been working pretty well.

  1. I'm always switching genres because if I read too many of one type of book (even if it's a series) I get bored and fall into a slump. #getsocial17

    1. Kim, you have so much on your plate, that I'm not surprised that you're not sleeping that many hours. I hope you can take just a week to relax, and maybe get in at least 6 hours one day soon. You're the best! Hugs...

  4. I'm in a weight loss program and my doctor told me it's true that you gain weight if you don't get enough sleep - and stress can do it too!

  5. I'm hit or miss about the sleep. I think your reading funk idea of switching genres works well for me, too. I added cozy and thriller mysteries to the pile and its dealt with some of my meh feels.

Oh my glands, those NY laws are a hoot.

    1. I'm like you when it comes to sleep, but I've been doing much better by forcing myself to go to bed earlier and to stay there. I used to sleep 4 hours then get up to start doing other things. I laugh out loud at some of these nutty laws that are still around. I wonder what would happen if someone got caught with ice cream cones in her pocket. lol Hugs...

  9. I'm a fan of mixing up genres to keep the slumps away. It isn't fool proof but my luck is pretty great. I'm bad about snacking when I'm really tired. I'm not sure if it's because my will power is really bad or just because I feel like I need to do something to keep myself awake!

    1. Totally agree, Katherine, but have been partial to spy novels and crime stories lately. I used to have that same habit too, and one of the main reasons I gained weight. I would eat, then go right to bed! Now, I lift weights to keep off the sleepies. Hugs...

  13. A quirky fun post.
So I can blame insomnia for being overweight? Hmmm.
    I read across genres.
And am amazed at those laws which no-one has bothered to repeal. And at the mentality that thought it was reasonable to control legally when we wear slippers...

  14. removing credit card info really do not stop me from shopping but it sort allow me some time to think about purchasing while typing in the numbers.

when I'm in a reading slump, I re-read favorite books, switching genres doesn't work for me as I just seems unable to change to another.

those are crazy new york laws that I haven't heard of at all, I guess it's a good think I don't like going topless. haha

    have a lovely day.
