TRIVIA TIDBITS AND A TREAT

One of the places I visit regularly is Swagbucks where you can earn cash and gift cards for doing all kinds of stuff.

During one of their daily polls, this was discovered when it comes to reading preferences.

Hardback/Paperback  -  67%
Kindle/Nook/Tablet   -  15%
Don't Read Books!!   -    9%   -  Say what?!
Audio                         -    7%

According to Pew Research Center in 2016, 26% of Americans say they haven't picked up a book in any form!

This is a good picture of me.(lol)
I can't imagine a world without books, so I keep something to read with me wherever I go.  But what about you? Are you still reading books in paper form, or is it more convenient to listen to audio, or use an e-reader? Have you stopped reading books, or prefer NOT to read?

FOOTBALL FANS UNITE
Get ready to munch to your heart's content on Superbowl Sunday.  Can you believe that this is the 2nd largest day for people to gobble up mountains of food AFTER Thanksgiving?

ARE YOU GAME?
HQ TRIVIA used to only be available on the iPhone,(itunes.apple.com) but now you can get chances to actually win real cash just for knowing useless stuff on android as well.  As of January 17, it's in beta phase, so be prepared for some buggy stuff if you download this version of the app from google plus, but you can also visit https://twitter.com/hqtrivia for behind the scenes news. You may be surprised to know that Jimmy Fallon, Barack Obama and Jimmy Kimmel are 3 of over 755,000 people who play pretty regularly.
If you're wondering what type of topics could show up in 1 of those 12 questions designed to stump trivia buffs, you may want to brush up on the irregular plurals of nouns like platypus, octopus, and rhinoceros that we learned in grammar school.  YIKES! (lol)

GIVE ME FOOD AND FUN
The name Phil Rosenthal may not sound all that familiar, but he's the creator and executive producer of the old sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond.  He's also the very funny star of Somebody Feed Phil, which was just released on Netflix.

If you're a foodie, and want to learn about traditional cuisine from other cultures mixed in with plenty of laughter and fun, be sure to binge on this program.

Six countries are featured on his show, and I had no clue that Tel Aviv is considered the vegan/vegetarian capital of the world!  During the program, he gets to hang out with well known chefs, Michael Solomonov, Michal Ansky and Uri Jeremias to name a few.

What's pretty neat is how he brings unknown fruits back to his hotel room and shows them to his elderly parents via Facetime.(lol)  It's also cool to see him mention his wife of 27 years quite often and with much affection.

VEGETARIAN KORMA - simple to make

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
1 Small Onion Diced Onion

WHAT ARE YOU DOING THESE DAYS?

In between reading

Hard to put down!

Working on March

Been working on some special projects, slipping in reading a non-stop action novel by James Rollins, and updating my planner.

Just in case you haven't heard the news, my boyfriend Ed Sheerhan popped the question to his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn over the holidays, and they're now officially engaged.  He made the announcement on Instagram along with a picture of the two.  So far, he's received over 4 million LIKES for that announcement! Congratulations!

  1. There are a lot of people out there that don't read books. I know it's hard to believe but I know a few people like that.

  2. I can't ever imagine a world without books. I can't imagine a world without books on paper that rustles through your hands, where real pages must be turned, and where they are so interesting you can't put them down. However, I see the demise of real books like I see the demise of brick and mortar stores, video tapes, and newspapers.

I'm going to make that Vegetarian Korma. It sounds delicious. Guess I should pack up and move to Tel Aviv, because I live in BEEF country, not a great place for a vegetarian.

I used to play Trivia Pursuit. I have several games, in fact most of the ones that were put out. I should check into playing online.

I LOVE your planner. It is fabulous. You put my calendar to shame, shame, shame!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend, dear RO!

    1. I still have a Trivial Pursuit game around here somewhere too, and really enjoyed it. That's cool that you have so many versions. Being a beef person, I was actually encouraged to try all these neat recipes they were coming up with. We need to head out there together Elizabeth. (lol) I need my books, as you do, and like turning pages. Thanks for the kudos on my Planner - stickers make magic. (lol) Hugs...RO

  4. A world without books would be a foretaste of hell for me, but I know that not everyone reads. Their loss. I prefer to read 'real books' but do read e-books as well. And labels. And signs. And anything else going. I always have a book with me.
And that vegetarian korma looks delicious.

  5. I mostly read using an e-reader, at work, when I have spare time. The e-reader is light and very convenient. There is always a proper book on my bedside table, but it can sit there for rather a long time. I am a classic corn flake packet reader.

  6. It's not that I'm surprised about folks who don't read. I've worked with a few and have many in my case loads. For some its a disability, for others its a crisis issue, and for others, sadly, they had no early encouragement to do it so didn't cultivate a liking for it. Always fun to get a person into reading. :)

Oh wow, Tel Aviv is the veggie capital, huh? I like the sound of his show. The recipe sounds delicious, too.

    1. You're so right Sophia! I remember doing a post on the literacy rates and those numbers truly shocked me. Most of us take reading for granted (like me), but there are so many who never learned, were forbidden to do so, or were never encouraged. It's so sad. I'm on Netflix much too often these days. 1. It's a really great show, and the food is terrific! The book was totally different than what I expected, but he gives really flavorful recipes that are either low fat or low carb. He has a roasted broccoli side with Parmesan and lemon that is fab and an Avocado Toast with Red Chile that is out of this world. He also gives a ton of recipes for various types of fish too. That's good that you mix the reading up a little bit to fit what's going on. Hugs...RO

  9. I tried to watch Phil's show on netflix. I loved his books and I really like all his shows, but this I just found this boring, I tried, and I may need to try it again perhaps I was not in the right frame of mind. I find that sometimes happens. The first episode of Everybody Loves Raymond was a true story about his parents. (and mine!) As for not reading - I know those people, they voted for trump. :-)

    2. Yay! I'm not alone with Phil! When I watched the first show, I thought I was going to feel like you, but something about his sense of humor reeled me in. I also really liked how he kept showing all these unusual foods to his elderly parents, who had this dry sense of humor. Now I need to watch reruns of Everyone Loves Raymond to learn more about them AND your parents I hope you can get back to try again, and we can compare notes. I just need my books all the time. 14. "Think Before You Like"... Want to find that book. I love books like this. You can dip into them, and do something else, and go back and dip into them again. Unlike fiction, which you read, from cover to cover, over time.

I get books from the library, and on Kindle. We went for Kindle first, for my husband, whose eye sight has deteriorated and needs to be able to make print larger. And not all books come in Large Print.

Then I tried some Kindle also. My eyes are not like his, but it is certainly nice, to be able to enlarge print, to what feels good. I still look for Large Print at library, and can read regular.

As for Kindle, I do not spend a lot of money there. I have *cheap* books info, which comes into my mail box daily. Lots of Free and 99 cent books. Not all winners. but not all losers either.

I do like the feel of a book, in my hands.

I know more people are reading Kindle too. So true. More and more freebies are coming around for us to read, so like you, I'm all in! Happy Monday and Hugs...RO

There's something about holding a book in my hand that I really enjoy. As for the SB, I don't like both teams so it's gonna be hard to watch. Even the commercials have been a let down the last few years for me, so I'll probably do what I did last year, watch the first half, then head to bed . :) Oh, and trivia -love it!
