HAVE A SCOOP & GET IN THE LOOP

July is National Ice Cream Month and I'm just going to come clean.  When it comes to eating ice cream from a cone, I'm the world's worst.  It drips down my hands, ruins my shoes, and has even been known to show up in my hair.(lol)  So when it comes to any kind of ice cream, I need to have it in a cup please.

Even though vanilla is still the number one flavor that most people eat, there are tons of treats at ice cream shops all over the world that are creative and fun these days.

Sweet Action Ice Cream in Denver - Goat Cheese Beet Swirl is made with actual roasted beets. Maggie Sheehan, Jennifer Meyers

The Ice Cream Store in Rehoboth Beach - Catching Fire is made with mango, orange and strawberry swirls which sounds pretty neat, but I'm definitely not adventurous enough to eat that LIVE scorpion garnish that's on top!Maggie Sheehan, Jennifer Meyers

Mashti Malone in Los Angeles - Rosewater Sorbet. Huh?  This is made with lemon juice, sour cherry syrup and saffron ice cream that's topped off with rose water flavored sorbet directly from Iran, and  sprinkled throughout with actual rice noodles.  The Ice Cream Show

FRESH FRUIT ICE CREAM-Good Housekeeping
1 lbs Frozen Fruit (Mango, peaches, strawberries, raspberries or blueberries)
1/2 Cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Tbsp Honey
Kosher Salt

1.  In a food processor, pulse fruit, occasionally scraping side of the bowl until fluffy  and chopped. Add sweetened condensed milk, honey and 1/4 tsp salt; pulse, occasionally scraping the side of the bowl until smooth and whirring around the blade in a continuous motion.

Mango Ice Cream
2.  Transfer mixture to 5 x 9 inch loaf pan.  Freeze, uncovered, until set - about 4 hours.  Serve or cover tightly with plastic wrap, and freeze for up to 2 weeks.

Cookie Monster w/cookie dough, Oreos, Chocolate Chip cookies & Mint Chocolate Chips
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH
Do you like your ice cream without the actual ice cream?(lol)  If you go to a New York Mets game in Citi Field, or
Cookie Dough at the New York Mets Game
go directly to their store in NYC, DO serves cookie dough in all these neat flavors.  Word on the street, is that fans can stand in line at the store for hours waiting to get these unique desserts.

Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies, also offers up edible cookie dough from Jane Dough.

MOMS UNITE
According to a recent study from Crispy Green, two-thirds of mothers admitted that they hide a goodie stash so other members can't get a hold of it. (lol)

INDIGESTION CURE FOR CHEAP
I've tried this many times and it always works.  Some people mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda in 1/4 cup of water, but I use a tiny spoonful and within minutes you'll be indigestion free.

AMAZON DOES THIS TOO!

CREATIVE ARTWORK
Do you remember Etch a Sketch?  Were you ever able to draw anything more than a rectangular television like me?(lol)  This really cool toy has been around since 1960, and I still see small versions in stores.

George Vlosich started working with Etch a Sketch when he was 10 years old in 1989, is now pretty famous AND rich.

It took about 80 hours each to create drawings of President Donald Trump, President Barack Obama, The Beetles, Tiger Woods and more using that same toy, and they are now worth thousands of dollars.

Crystal Gonzales

I just don't get it. With the outside temperature being a blistering 100 degrees in California, what would possess a woman to leave two children in the car while she shopped in Walmart?  One child was 1, and the other was 9 months.

A woman saw the children in the  car and called the police, who then removed them safely from the vehicle.

Arrested and then released on a $100,000 bond, the 34 year old  said she left the kids in the car  because they were sleeping and didn't want to wake them up.

Did Ms. Gonzales consider that those kids may have never awakened again?

  1. Maybe Ms Gonzales just didn't think, there are quite a few just not very intelligent people out there, sadly.

I'm not a massive fan of ice cream, as it sets my teeth on edge, but it's so hot here in the UK at the moment that I'd love one right now if you are offering. :D

I had an etch-a-sketch as a kid and never really created anything more than a house with a chimney, and I have a degree in art, so I should be able to do better than that!

    1. To go shopping and leave your kids or animals in a hot car doesn't make any sense to me at all. Despite my love of ice cream, I can only take 2-3 bites or so, though I've heard some can eat bowlfuls of it. I know you have an art degree, and would love to see some of your work. I'll bet it's pretty amazing. Hugs...RO

  12. I'll leave the gourmet ice cream to others, thank you. Baskin Robbins has more flavors than I can cover in a lifetime (grin).

Those etch a sketch images are out of this world. No wonder the guy is now famous.

Last year, after there were more than a few deaths in cars due to parental neglect, the state (KS) passed a law that you could NOT be sued if you broke a window in someone's car to remove a small child or animal suffering in the heat. Yes, even animals were protected under this law. It's a good thing the person who called the police on Ms. Gonzalez weren't too late to remove the baby. Police often take their time when called out to private parking lots.

To do just one piece of art takes 40 hours - an entire work week! I had no idea about the KS law, and I am in total agreement with that law which can save lives. This could have turned into a needless tragedy for sure, and thank goodness for the lady who stopped by the car. Hope everything is going well with you dear Elizabeth, and I'm sending some hugs your way. RO

  21. The problem is that too many people never think about the consequences to their actions. Obviously, Mommie Dearest was only concerned in doing what was easiest for her. It just boggles my brain that with all that's said about leaving children and pets in hot cars, people still do it.

How funny to read about ice cream today (though I know I'm late getting here!) yesterday the Tornado and I pulled out the ice cream machine that we haven't used in years and made a test round of vanilla ice cream. It's delicious! I don't like cones though. I'm not sure if it's the biting into cold stuff or the potential mess. I've tried the baking soda thing before out of desperation and it does work but I don't like the taste. That's crazy about the woman in California - particularly with children that little because they're so helpless.
