ONE THING YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW

Today(August 12) is a National Holiday and I'll bet you had no clue(lol)  Did you know that according to a report from the CDC, August is the most popular birthday month with 12.7% of the population?  September comes next with 12.6, then June and July tie things up for 3rd at 12.1% .

My son, who always prefers to remain nameless should I say something crazy and embarrass him(lol), ended up with Covid-19.   He and his family live in another state, but I was able to see exactly what happens when you test positive.  For those who don't know, sticking a dang 6 inch long q-tip up your your nose is definitely no fun, and he had some bleeding throughout the day.  What about a mouth swab please?! The test came back positive, and before he could hang up the phone with me, the CDC was calling to chat with him and everyone in the house.  They're very friendly, and wanted to know who he'd been around and what were his symptoms.    Later on they stopped by to drop off a packet to tell them what should be done regarding temperature checks, etc.  Meanwhile, his fiance couldn't smell or taste anything, one of the other weird symptoms of the disease.  She was okay with it because it didn't affect her appetite one bit.(lol) Anywho, all is now well with everyone, and they've all tested clear.

A few days ago I was the  DD (Designated Driver) for a person who received outpatient surgery, and it's a good thing I love to read because you basically have to sit in the waiting room with a mask on and wait for it all to be over, after having your temperature checked.  Except for one super not talkative lady, and a HUGE wasp who flew in, the waiting room was pretty much a ghost town. You can no longer visit the recovery room and hang out. The surgeon came out to say that all went well, and oh by the way, "the needle broke off in his shoulder, so it took me some time to find it".  They then cheerfully bring the drugged out, grumpy patient outside to your car and put him in before going off to torture the next person.

Are you a hot dog eater?  If so, you're one of the 150 million people who gobbled them up on July 4 according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.  If that's not surprising enough, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Americans eat 7 billion hot dogs!
(image-Tony Babel)

I don't how he did it, but in 2014 Jan Greeff of Columbus Georgia made it into the Guiness World Book of Records for his 80 hour barbeque.  Apparently he didn't mind cooking 1000 hot dogs, 558 burgers, 104 pieces of chicken, 200 pieces of corn and 526 pieces of South African sausages.  This guy sure had a lot of energy or was very hungry.

Love Goodly
is a not only a cool phrase, but it's also a  cruelty-free and non-toxic beauty box that starts at $34.95.  You can also purchase individual merchandise.https://www.lovegoodly.com/

Do you like healthy snacks and love trying new things?  You'll love https://www.urthbox.com/# which has boxes of full sizes packages that start at $14.99 and go up to $44.99.  These boxes do ship to other countries, and there is FREE shipping in the United States.

I don't understand the cruelty of others.  Physically attacking a person who refuses to wear a mask is not the right thing to do.  Following a person who cut you off on the highway is not going to change what happened.  Beating up the person you live with as a means to control or take out your frustration is assault. Making fun of a homeless person who may be asking for money is not funny.  All we can do is to try to use every opportunity to show kindness when we can.  Our acts can literally save someone's life.

Just want to take a chance to give some shouts out to my family who gave me some great gifts,(planners, tennis shoes, computer bag, stickers, undies, no thongs for me-lol, cash, book, card, oil mister, FREE cheeseburger from Red Robin and a special hello and thanks to Elizabeth from http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/ who knows my love of cheeseburgers.  I've  been hooked on them since I was 11 years old and the momentum hasn't slowed down.  The Bob's Burger Book totally rocks!

  7. Happy birthday, and I'm glad your son did make a full recovery. Covid-19 can be very nasty.

Perhaps the wasp was a designated flyer waiting for a bug getting surgery at a veterinarian next door?

Physically attacking a person who refuses to wear a mask is not the right thing to do.

Arguably a person who gets to close to me without a mask on is threatening to expose me to a deadly disease, and I have the right to shoot them in self-defense. Luckily, here in Portland, I almost never see anyone out in public without a mask.

I'll never understand people who beat up their domestic partner or make fun of homeless people. I've long kept a supply of $5 bills in the car for when I see a beggar on a corner (we have a fair number of homeless people here, despite the climate). It's an awful situation to be in, and one I've come close to myself a couple of times.

  8. Happy birthday! I'm glad your family is recovering and I hope there are no long-term consequences for them.

I know there are a lot of scary symptoms with the 'Rona, but losing smell/taste scares me the most. I'm from an Italian family where every meal is an event to be savored. I supposed I could take that opportunity to eat some of the things I hate, that happen to be good for me. Wonder if I could pack a lifetime's worth of heinous broccoli into that recovery window...

The whole family thought it was weird, but the fact that it didn't affect her appetite made everyone thrilled(lol). I'm with you, that would seem like the best time ever to eat all the foods that you just couldn't stand as a kid or adult. Sounds like yours is broccoli, but mine would be squash or crab.(lol) Hope you guys are doing well! Hugs, RO

Infidel753 stole my line already. First thing I thought of was physically attacking them is too close. You could get sick from the contact. You should shoot them from at least 6 feet away.

So sorry to hear about your son testing positive. But he is okay now, correct? The HH had to have that test before surgery and said it's no fun. And your friend having a needle breaking off in his shoulder. Yikes. Good on you for being designated driver. I took the HH in and had to wait in the car. No free coffee to be had:) Though they did come around, handing out waters.

The day was spent taking care of the sick friend who had surgery, but it gave me another reason to watch Netflix, right?(lol) When my son called and sounded so sick, I had to practically jump through the phone to get him to go to the hospital because he thought it was just a cold. Luckily he had been staying home anyway, but it still spread throughout the family. Everyone is doing well with no issues. I had a bad vibe that something was wrong because it was taking a real long time for the surgeon to come out. I've had a few people I know that had to get tested and they all said it felt like their brain was being scraped.

  46. I am glad your son and his family are Covid free now. I know everyone's experience is a bit different- but I hope he wasn't feel terrible during the time he had it.

Look at all those gifts. Sounds and looks like you were showered with goodies. Yay!

I agree-I just want everyone to be kind and to be nice to others. I feel like people go out of their way to be mean sometimes and I just don't get it.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. Me too, and I can tell you it was quite a scare, particularly since they live in another state. There was a period of time that he felt really sick and that's what triggered him to visit the emergency room. I was thrilled with those trinkets for sure. I agree - it just seems like such a waste of time to be mean to each other. Hope your day is amazing! Hugs, RO

Sadly, the human species seems to be more mean than kind. In daily life I encounter more meanness than kindness.
