Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars
Ingredients
Nonstick cooking spray
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
4 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
One 6.5-ounce box brownie mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13-by-9-inch baking pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil with a 2-inch overhang. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar at medium-high speed with a mixer until fluffy. Add 2 eggs, beating until well blended. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating until the mixture forms a soft dough. Stir in the chocolate morsels.
In another large bowl, combine the brownie mix, oil, 1/4 cup water and remaining 2 eggs, beating until well blended.
Spread the the cookie dough in prepared pan. Pour the brownie mixture over the dough. Using a knife, swirl the mixtures together. Bake until the edges start to pull away from sides of the pan, 40 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 1 hour. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours. Cut into bars.

If you signed up to do some extracurricular cheating over at Ashley Madison, the gig may be up. The hackers, The Impact Team, who wanted the Ashley Madison site to be taken down or else, have now exposed 30 million names, including Josh Duggar, (allegedly) from the now defunct TLC program 19 Kids and Counting. Many may or may not agree, but I consider cheating to be an abusive act towards a spouse or significant other, so the fact that this site literally has millions of subscribers is very disturbing. Instead of spending money trying to hide an affair, why not pay some bills, or use it for something special for the person you actually married or profess to be in love with. I'm just saying...

Have you ever fallen in love with the work of an author, then had to own everything he or she has ever written? That's definitely me! It's taken me about 2 years, but I finally completed my Catherine Anderson library by snagging Switchback from 1990 and Cry of the Wild from 1992. Yay!
Did you know that according to the International Journal of Food Sciences and Nutrition, women who ate 3 ounces of tomatoes before a meal can actually lose nearly 2 1/2 pounds in just one month? The nutrients inside a tomato help to speed weight loss.
Do you remember the Rubik's Cube? Were you ever able to solve it? I sure never did! He didn't break the world record of American Collin Burns, but Feliks Zemdegs from Australia shocked everyone by solving the cube at the Rubik's World Championship in Brazil for the second time, in less than 6 seconds. Wow!

That looks like a great recipe. I was never able to solve that rubiks cube.
ReplyDeleteI would totally love to figure that riddle out to the Rubiks cube Mary! (lol) Hugs...
Delete6 seconds for a Rubik's cube ? I never could solve it, lol ! You are always tempting us with food and drinks, I like that ;)
ReplyDeleteI know, right iza (lol) that kid is amazing! Thanks for the hugs and kudos. Makes my day! Hugs...
DeleteYum! I've been in the mood for brownies and that recipe looks amazing. You make a very interesting and very correct point by saying that cheating is a form of abuse. I've never thought of it that way but it's very definitely a form of emotional abuse. 6 seconds for a rubik's cube is seriously impressively. I may have gotten impatient with a rubuick's cube and put it down after 6 seconds but that's about as far as I ever got!
ReplyDeleteI always say that we can never have too much chocolate, Katherine. (lol) I'm so serious about emotional abuse and cheating that it makes me want to get on the soapbox and preach, but I'll contain myself. (lol) Isn't that kid simply amazing???!!! Hugs...Ro
DeleteOh that looks yummy.Must look away. Must look away.
ReplyDeleteAny reason I can find to eat chocolate, Anna, and I'm going for it! Happy Saturday to you.
DeleteI used to do secret shops back in the 90s. It paid pretty well at that time. I still occasionally get emails for them (how odd that I'm still on mailing lists after 20 years, right?!) but now the pay isn't worth it. I looked into a few of them and they wanted you to go jump through all these hoops for $10 or $15. You have to fill out a long survey at the end and some of them even make you talk to three or four different people, get all their names, note exact times you spoke to each, etc...all without being seen writing any of it down. You could use your smartphone now.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know it used to pay better, Stephanie. You're right! Some of those secret shops do seem a little crazy, putting your own money up front than being reimbursed. So far, I've only chosen the ones that I have to write a review on store customer service and appearance, but it was tough to do incognito. (lol) Will check out the movie one and report back.
DeleteI love cookies! And this recipe just has to be tried one of these days, Ro :)
ReplyDeleteOh, the Rubik's Cube... I can actually still make it, but not as fast as I could when I was a teen. My kids think I'm magic when I do it, though :)
Have a fantastic Friday :)
