FUN FOOD & FACTS FRIDAY

WATERMELON-BERRY LIMEADE
INGREDIENTS
1/2 Cup Chopped Watermelon
1/2 Cup Fresh Strawberries, hulled
1/2 Cup Coconut Water
1 Lime, juiced
Ice Cubes

DIRECTIONS
In a blender, puree watermelon, strawberries, coconut water and lime juice until smooth.  Pour over ice cubes in a decorative glass so you can show off for your friends.  Top with additional strawberries and lime slices, then serve.  Feel free to add sugar if you like it sweeter, or more lime juice for a more tart flavor.
This recipe is enough for 1 person.

CHOCOLATE
According to a Facebook survey, 53% prefer to cook their s'mores over a campfire and 26% enjoy preparing their treats right at home in the microwave. National S'mores Day is right around the corner on August 10.

Have you already been on vacation?  Are you still planning to take a trip?  Even while getting away to relax, 42% of people still check their work emails.

Do you like art?  I'm not really the type of person that can sit in a museum for hours, but I do enjoy looking at unusual things. This 3D artwork is truly amazing, and so unique.  Don't you agree?

The great actress Audrey Hepburn was born in 1929 and went on to win an Emmy, Tony, Grammy and 2 Oscars.

Sally Ride, the first woman and youngest person to visit space in 1993, actually had other ideas for her career.  She was so good at tennis, that she was ranked 18th in her junior year of high school and planned to become a pro.  Once she started taking science classes in college, Sally changed her mind and decided to become an astronaut instead.

According to Dr. Bob Arnot of The Coffee Lover's Diet, some coffees are better for revving up your metabolism than others. The best are low-roasted versions that contain antioxidants which contain phenols. The phenols improve blood sugar, burn fat, protect your heart, lower Alzheimer's risk by 65%, and reduce cancer risk.
The best coffees to buy are actually right in your local supermarket and include Veranda Blend Blonde by Starbucks,  Eight O'Clock Coffee Colombian Medium, and Dunkin Donuts Original Blend.

TOO HOT
It's ironic that I was born in August, the hottest month of the year, but I can't stand all that heat. And it's not over yet.  With heat indexes that reach between 105 degrees to 129 degrees, our bodies can suffer from heatstroke, heat cramps and heat exhaustion before we know it, even in areas that are considered shady.   The body cools itself by sweating, so if you're in this type of heat and NOT sweating, that's a danger sign.  My solution - stay in the dang house and eat some fruit, which is the best thing about the summer.
Or we could all just stay at The Icehotel in Sweden for a day or two, right?

Today, August 4 is International Beer Day, which we should never confuse with National Beer Day that we just had back in April or Drink a Beer Day which is coming up in September. (lol)

  7. Ugh. Don't tell me Aug is the hottest month of the year. I've been slowly sweating to death for the last two months! Normally I love summer but it's been one muggy heatwave after another here and it's brutal. I can't wait until the fall rolls around.
BTW, I make my smores in the toaster over or in the broiler. ;) LoL

That's a job, I could probably do much better if If I stop reading for a while. (lol)
