FUN TIPS, TRIVIA AND TASTINESS

Do you like to travel?  Is your passport in order?  Are you able to be away from home for about 2-3 months? Do you have someone reliable to watch your fur babies?  Are you a social media guru that doesn't mind sharing?  If you answered yes to these questions, this job would be perfect for you!

Busabout (yes, this is a real thing-lol) is currently on the hunt for a Blogger, Youtuber, Snapchatter or Instagrammer to pretty much travel around the world, visiting 15 countries.  Everything will be paid for including places to stay, spending money, and your trip home.  All you have to do is take pics, share, share, share and meet the required deadlines.  In addition, if you really know what you're doing and excel during that period, you're entitled to a "success fee"  once you get back home.

If you have what it takes, and are over 18 get your application in asap by visiting here Application. Applications will be accepted until April 17, so get started right away with your pitch!

HOTEL DEALS
Speaking of travel, if you're a last minute traveler and don't schedule hotel visits in advance, visit Hotel Tonight to find  amazing deals on luxury hotels that aren't always published.  Even better, this app allows you to find savings of up to 50%-60% off in hotels around the world! https://www.hoteltonight.com/

If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you already know that I like to share information that's unusual, or makes me scratch my head in wonder. (lol)

It's not official yet, but if you live or plan to live in Rhode Island and love your porn, it may soon cost you.  A bill has been introduced requiring all Internet providers to block sexual content, and anything considered offensive.  The best and only way around it if this bill gets passed?  Pay up $20 and you'll be magically unblocked.  Those funds would then be used for funding the Council on Human Trafficking.  The bill also proposes a penalty for those who refuse to block their content.

GREEN GODDESS TUNA SALAD SANDWICH (Bon Appetit)
INSTRUCTIONS
  • ¼ cup basil leaves
  • ¼ cup parsley leaves with tender stems
  • ¼ cup tarragon leaves
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp. finely grated lemon zest
  • 2 Tbsp. plus 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 5-oz. can tuna in water, drained
  • 1 celery stalk, finely chopped
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, finely grated
  • Kosher salt, freshly ground pepper
  • ½ cup coarsely chopped mixed tender herbs (such as celery leaves, basil, parsley, and/or dill)
  • 2 English muffins, split, lightly toasted
  • DIRECTIONS
Purée basil, parsley, tarragon, mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon zest, 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, and 2 Tbsp. oil in a blender until very smooth and pale green.

Transfer dressing to a medium bowl and add tuna. Using a fork, break up tuna and incorporate into dressing. Mix in celery, shallot, and garlic; season with salt and lots of pepper.

Toss chopped mixed herbs with remaining 1 tsp. lemon juice in a small bowl. Drizzle with a little oil, season with salt and pepper, and toss again.

Build sandwiches with English muffins, tuna salad (you may have a bit extra), and herb salad.

TOP CHEF SECRETS
Everyone knows that I've been watching Top Chef since 2006, and it's one of the only cooking shows I'll watch over and over and over again, which my son can never understand(lol)  The show is so popular around the world now that you can watch Top Chef Canada, Top Chef Africa, Top Chef France, Top Chef Mexico, Top Chef Panama, Top Chef Italy, Top Chef Spain & Top Chef Thailand.

It's 2018, and Chef and Judge Tom Colicchio still feels that Season 9 winner, (Texas) Paul Qui has phenomenal food and is the best chef.  He cooked his favorite dish of root vegetables and sunchoke dashi soup.

If you watch the show, it seems like they make their decisions of who will be kicked off very quickly with little discussion, but in reality, it can sometimes take as long as 6 hours or more to make a decision, and they can't leave until they all agree!

The next season will be held in various cities throughout Kentucky.
Just in case you didn't know, March 9 is  National Meatball Day.  So that means there should be balls made from pork, beef, veggies, chickpeas, chicken and turkey all over the place tomorrow.  Rachel Ray even has a recipe that includes bacon! Make them yourself, or head out to a restaurant with a friend.

  1. Wow, that's some offer, for someone young, without duties, and loves travel.

That recipe would make anyone want tuna salad! But it's kind of difficult, with lots of ingredients. Maybe just a few, added to regular tuna salad...? :-)

Never watched any of the chef shows. Not the competition ones. A couple of individual ones, when they were on. The "Bammmmm!" guy. And the Italian lady... Lydia...

National Meatball Day!!!! Yessss!!!!! Who doesn't love meatballs? You can make any kind you want. ,-))))

Ohhhhhhh that adorable pic!!!! "A house is not a home, without books or cats." It makes me so miss our kitties. -sniff-

(lol) I adore Emeril Lagasse, he been around so many years. And I watch Lidia Bastianich on occasion too. I'm so sorry about your cats too. Love, love, cats. Hugs...and Happy Monday RO

  3. I gather you are not applying for the Busabout position, or you wouldn't be telling us about it. Porn censorship was tried here before the internet when people used phone services, but it failed.

  7. Gosh, RO, I love to travel, but I couldn't leave my boys behind that long. If only I knew about this before I had two fur babies, I would have jumped at the chance.

I am NOT a lover of porn, nor do I watch it, but to me that bill speaks of censorship, which I am opposed to even more than porn. I can see their desire to raise money for human trafficking, but somehow that struck me as the wrong way to do it.

I adored the cat and books photo. What more can a human ask for, right? Really enjoyed this post, even though I was SO late visiting.

Interesting fact: Wichita has had LESS THAN 1/2 inch of moisture since October 1, 2017 until March 8, 2018 (yesterday). Saw it on the news last night.

    1. If something was available like this back in the day, I absolutely would have dropped everything and signed on. Something like this is what dreams are made of for sure. I could see how leaving your babies that long wouldn't work, and I don't blame you. I agree, I don't get porn either, but adults shouldn't be censored. What this is good for, is a surf savvy kid who knows how to navigate to porn at only 5 years old, and sadly I've actually seen that happen. My nephew actually pulled up a site when he stole his mother's phone a few years back, and I was horrified(lol) The human trafficking problem is atrocious, and I wish there was a way to stop such heinous behavior. Cats, books, movies and cheeseburgers make me happy too Elizabeth.(lol) Yay, you've shared some trivia which I love, and that's shocking. Never know when that will come in handy! Hugs and Happy Saturday to you! RO

  9. My younger self would have done this travel piece in a heart beat!! When I worked in the airline industry we'd just fly to New England for seafood for lunch and then fly to Texas for tex-mex. I miss those days!!
This tuna salad looks fabulous. Wanna come cook for me? I am getting bored with doing it. In fact I hate it. I watch all these cooking shows you'd think I would enjoy cooking. Nope, I just enjoy eating.

    1. Ditto for me Peggy. Working in the airline industry sounds so glamorous, and I bet you have all kinds of neat stories to tell! I would have loved to different cities like that to experience the food. LOL! For years, I was the same way. I watched all these cooking shows and did nothing with it. It wasn't until 2010, that I actually started to go cheffy. I sure wouldn't mind heading that way for an adventure or two. Hope your Saturday is wonderful. Hugs...RO
