THERE'S ALWAYS ROOM FOR ICE CREAM
Seems like there is a Dairy Queen on every corner, but did you know that the first one opened up way back in 1940 in Illinois?
There are over 5700 stores around the world calling on us to enjoy cold scoops of goodness.

LOOKING FOR A HOME?
You may not have heard of 50 Poplar Hill Drive in Connecticut, but it's pretty famous. At one time it was owned by Mike Tyson. He actually forgot that he even still had this property that was robbed in 2017, but this mansion is owned by 50 Cent, the rapper. At one time, this 50,000 square foot property was being sold for a little over $18 million, but Fredrik Eklund from Bravo's Million Dollar Listing slashed the price to just close to $5 Million. (About $22,000 a month mortgage payment!)
So if you're looking for a home with 6 kitchens, 25 bathrooms, a pool and a stripper pole, get this bargain quick!(lol)
WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO REALLY WELL?
One thing I wish I could really do well is draw or paint. I literally can only draw boxes and stick people. My artistic talent is to use stickers and washi tape for everything in my planners.
My Birthday is Coming on August 12- Yay! |
In high school, I took an elective art class and thought it would be smooth sailing - uh...definitely not. (lol) We had to draw things like hands, bottles and fruit baskets. Everyone in that class created these great pieces of art with pencils and shading, including Eva someone I'm still friends with today.
The teacher would walk past my desk, shake her head and tell me to just keep trying. (lol)
Well the answer to the last question is anything. I don't have a talent of any kind. I've been looking for 62 years. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are a hoot! (lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteI can do some art. But I seem to only be able to copy. Look at a painting, and reproduce it. Like that.
ReplyDeleteI am better with pastels, than with oil though.
But I haven't even tried, in ages.
That's pretty cool that you can do that, and I'll bet you do some amazing pastel work that I would love to see one day! Hugs...RO
DeleteI head to DQ for my Hot Fudge Sundae fix:)
ReplyDeleteHave a great one, my friend.
Can any of go wrong with chocolate AND ice cream, Super Sandra?(lol) Hugs and Happy Thursday! RO
DeleteQuite a bit of funny tidbits this time around RO!!!
ReplyDeleteI believe that being creative is in the hand of it's creator!!!
No rules...just have fun 🎨
Have a great week RO ❤❤❤
Good point Jan - it's all about the fun of it all! I sure hope your Thursday is pretty amazing! Hugs...RO
DeleteThis was a fun post. I like DQ, but I love Baskin and Robbins.I must say that the Blizzards look extra good right now-maybe because it's past lunch time.
ReplyDeleteI took art in high school too. I was lousy at it but loved it and even ended up in art club. That's one nice home! But I'd have to have a great security system or I'd be selling it too!
Hey there Lorna! Give me ice cream from anywhere, and I'm all in. (lol) Aren't Blizzards great though? That's cool that you ended up in an art club. I surely would have been kicked out.(lol) I agree, a place like that needs serious security though out the whole house. It was interesting how tired everyone got as they toured. I mean, I feel like other people could have been living in there, and no one would have ever seen them.(lol) So thrilled that you stopped by! Hugs...RO
DeleteI am pleased I am not the only non artistic person in the world. At times it seems like it.
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'm not alone Andrew, but you're good at plenty of other stuff! Hugs...RO
DeleteHi RO :) I could use some DQ right about now...I do have ice cream in the freezer though, so maybe a big ol' Sundae tonight after dinner would hit the spot!! Oh the art stuff...you know I took art classes in high school and I sucked with a capital S. About 10 years ago I tried to take painting and drawing classes and hated every moment. I got into painting by following Bob Ross on PBS. The drawing too, I copied and traced and erased and started over again until I gained the confidence to draw and paint my own stuff.
ReplyDeleteBut if you can't draw or paint, you know you have other amazing talents RO :) Your bullet journals look great!!!
Any reason for a Sundae sure sounds great to me dear Rain! I remember Bob on PBS, and could watch that show for hours as he calmly explained how to do landscapes. (lol) Your art is pretty amazing and always brings a smile. I think I'll just stick with stickers! (lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteWhen I was growing up, there was a DQ in my neighborhood. My Mom & Dad would take us there for our weekend treat!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's so cool Angela to have a yummy treat like that every weekend as a kid. There's one about 5 minutes from my house, as well as a Baskin Robbins, and they are both here to tease me when I drive by. (lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteI am with Margaret (and a few others). I would like ANY talent. But yes, an artistic talent would be high on my list.
ReplyDeleteEC, your talent with words is pretty dang phenomenal, along with your photography skills. I suspect there are lots more hidden talents too. (lol)
DeleteI would love to be able to draw … although my grand-daughter tells me the fish I drew for her recently was very good :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
What a fantastic granddaughter, and I'll bet that fish is phenomenal too! Hugs...RO
DeleteI have a degree in art and am a qualified art teacher, and yet I wish I could paint and draw well too! Lol.
ReplyDeleteSo who wouldn't want a house with a stripper pole? :D
Say what Joey??!! You've been holding out on us with all your skills! I'll bet you've drawn a few elevated stick men in your lifetime, right?(lol) I feel sure that the Stripper Pole is a HUGE selling point in that house, and I just have no clue why people aren't jumping at this deal.(lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteI haven't gotten into Claws, but I hear it is great. I saw the previews when it first came out, but never watched it.
ReplyDeleteI don't care if the price on that house is right, I'll let someone else buy a SIX kitchen home. I would feel obligated to cook more.
I can't draw for anything. It's not my thing, and I don't even proclaim to want to learn, either. I WOULD, however, like to get better at making collages. My calendar doesn't even look as good as yours, even though I use some of the stickers each month that you gifted me.
BTW, I’ve been complaining about my gimpy keyboard for awhile, but my mouse has always worked great. That is, until today. I had to buy a new mouse just so I could maneuver between blogs. That’s why I’m really late visiting.
I can't stop watching that show Elizabeth! (lol) I agree, with 6 kitchens, you do feel sort of obligated to use them all and cook a heck of a lot more. Huh? Your collages are absolutely beautiful and creative. I should be so lucky! I try to strategically place my stickers, but it's not mauch art to it. (lol) You must feel so frustrated with the keyboard and mouse situation. I agree, for writers and bloggers, that just has to be a nightmare. I'm always so thrilled when you stop by to visit! Hugs and Happy Thursday! RO
DeleteNever heard of those words either, quite funny...
ReplyDeleteYour diary looks great with washi tape and stickers, no need for drawings.
I used to draw and paint reasonably well, but it's been years since I dedicated myself to art so I'm very rusty.
Nice house but I would need to hire a few staff members to help keep it clean, I'm struggling with just 1 kitchen and 2 bathrooms, lol.
I still giggle when I hear that elderly lady say those words. (lol) Thanks for the kudos on the craft work. That stuff is overflowing in my house these days.(lol) That's neat that you're an artist, and I'll bet your skills are just as wonderful! I agree, I would need several housekeepers to keep up too(lo) Hugs...RO
DeleteI haven't heard of those words either, and I think I need to forget them quickly! That huge villa looks good, perhaps a touch too large with 6 kitchens. And I would love an ice right now, perhaps I will get myself one this afternoon. Have a great day, hugs , Valerie
ReplyDeleteI'm still laughing about those words, Valerie! (lol) Yay for ice cream!! Hope your day is great! Hugs...RO
DeleteLots of yummy stuff and that DQ Blizzard is the only safe blizzard!
ReplyDeleteLove your sense of humor, and I totally agree! Hugs...RO
DeleteNope! First time hearing of those for me, too. But, I live in a cave half the time so people spring new terms on me all the time.
ReplyDeleteOh yum, DQ!
Unless those mortgage payments included housekeeping and grounds, no thanks! LOL That's one big house.
Hey fellow stick-figure draw-er. I definitely can't paint, either. I can do stickers in a book, though.
Have a Terrific Thursday!
Our DQ was closed for a year because the franchise owners didn't pay their taxes. Whoops!
ReplyDeleteOMG! I bet they were embarrassed about that Adam, and those into ice cream quite upset that they had to go somewhere else. Hugs...RO
DeleteGreat post RO. I wish I could draw too. My stick people need serious help LOL
ReplyDeleteKindred spirits Debbie! (lol)
DeleteI wish I could draw or paint too. My husband and daughter both can and I'm so jealous.
ReplyDeleteThat's cool that both hubby and your daughter have that skill, Mary. You and I can just hang out and draw stick figures. (lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteProviding bags is a great idea for yard sales! Simple but helpful.
ReplyDeleteHave a great one, Rockin Ro.
Hugs
Gotta give people a reason to dump more things into the bag, right? (lol) Happy Sunday! Hugs...RO
DeleteFun (and interesting) post RO! Thanks for visiting me so I could find you. I would love to be able to paint too. I did a few of those paint party classes but its not the same. I paid to take a pencil drawing class a few years back and loved it!
ReplyDeleteLisa
I've heard those paint parties are fun, but I would probably be talking too much to get anything done.(lol) Cool on that pencil drawing class! Hugs...and thanks so much for stopping by! RO
DeleteThat was a lot of interesting information and a fun read, RO, though now I know the names of the first one I'm just hoping I don't blurt it out one day accidentally. Once it gets in your brain you know, thanks a lot, lol! All joking aside I love to learn all kinds of trivia. I go to Dairy Queen every once in a while and have one of their blizzards. Especially good on a hot day :) I have had some colored crayons in the drawer and a sketch pad for ages, I should get them out one of these days. Happy weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! You're so right Denise, and I keep checking with friends to see if they know those terms too, and definitely staying in your mind. Yay! I'm a serious trivia fan too, and always make sure to catch Jeopardy every chance I can. I also enter a lot of trivia games online. Those blizzards are yummy for sure! I hope you get your pad out one day soon. Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO
DeleteI really need to check out Claws, I've seen the previews for it and think it would be a show I'd like.
ReplyDeleteOMG Jenea! We're into Season 2 right now, and I'm hooked! Who knew Nail Salons could be filled with such drama and outrageousness! Hugs...RO
DeleteI'm impressed you have planners . :)
ReplyDeleteI watched Claws last year and enjoyed it up until about a little more than half way through. I really loved seeing some of the characters on there because they are so over the top it's fun to watch. I just lost interest after a bit. Plus, I'm a True Blood and Scrubs fan so that helped me hang on for as long as I did too. Glad you're still enjoying all their entertaining antics.
Elsie
Those planners are how I "sort of" stay organized Elsie(lol) I've been staying with the whole show, and it's still just as crazy as ever. Glad you've found some great shows to binge on too! Hugs...and Happy Sunday! RO
DeleteI love grilled corn! I usually do either Old Bay, or cotija cheese with cilantro. I will have to try the honey hot sauce version though. It sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteI've been eating more corn on the cob these days, and really like trying new flavors. I'm going to try the cotija cheese too, Kristin and thank you! Hugs...and Happy Sunday! RO
DeleteHahaha, I smiled about the drawing bit... I could actually draw really well when I was a teen. I used to draw mangas. But then stopped cause I wasn't as talented as I thought I should be.
ReplyDeleteBut you seem to do just as well with those lovely stickers :) I also love stickers a lot!
I'll bet you still draw pretty well Evelina, which is very cool. Aren't stickers just fantastic? Hugs...RO
DeleteI had a feeling I knew where you were going with the words! Those are hilarious! I don't understand why you'd need a house with 6 kitchens for a private residence. I would love to have someone explain what the function of that really was. I ended up taking an art class my senior year in high school and it was not a success. There had been a schedule mess up and I needed a class for a certain time for 2nd semester and that was one of the few classes with openings.
ReplyDeleteAh Katherine...you know me too well!(lol) I feel the same way about the kitchens, and with 50,000 square feet, it almost seems like you need to rent out sections of the house so the kitchens aren't wasted.(lol) I'll bet you draw a heck of a lot better than I do. Hugs and Happy Sunday! RO
DeleteOlive Oil + Oregano + Parmesan Cheese sure sounds good for the corn.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, Rockin Ro:)
Hugs
Doesn't that just sound yummy Super Sandra? That corn is definitely calling my name! (lol) Happy Sunday and Hugs...RO
DeleteI think you're very artistic! Creativity comes from the soul and you have alot of creativity! Birthday in August?? I have to remember that! I was laughing about "Whisker Biscuit" or "Mush Mitten"! LOL! Thanks for the toppings for grilling corn! Yummy! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI think stickers were invented just for me.(lol) I still can't get those terms out of my head.(lol) Happy Sunday and HUGE Hugs right back to you. RO
DeleteThat's great you use stickers and washi tapes to decorate your notebooks. In school (at least here) they don't really teach you how to draw and it's easiest for those who already have some experience. Maybe one day you can still learn to draw :).
ReplyDeleteThat house is really big, I cna't imagine what you would need all those rooms for. It would probably just feel creepy and empty if you don't use them.
That's pretty interesting that schools don't teach how to draw. At my age, I'm happy to be able to put a sticker on a page Lola(lol) I agree, a house that big is almost like a mall, and nearly impossible to get through easily. It probably would be scary too. Hugs! RO
Delete5 mil! A steal! Cos that house is crazy!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it humongous? What in the world would one or even two people do in it?(lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteI wish I could draw or paint too. I definitely use stickers and tape for making my planners look nice too. LOL Oh well, that's still fun. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting to know about providing bags for yard/garage sales. Makes sense!!
-Lauren
www.shootingstarsmag.net
Yay for Washi Tape and Stickers, right Lauren? (lol) I've been doing that at our yard sales and people seem to appreciate it, I think. Hugs... and Happy 4th! RO
DeleteI wish I could draw or paint, as well. I can doodle a few things, but I'm not artistic in that way, and I both admire and feel a little envy toward people who are.
ReplyDeleteThat house is much too big. I'd rather buy that castle in New York state that's for sale... This one: https://www.zillow.com/blog/castle-outside-nyc-216402/
Wow! That castle is huge, but it has a lot of old world charm and grace. Both are so big that I would need a go kart to get through all the rooms.(lol) Painting is definitely a wonderful skill, but you've got lots more cool things you can do, Lovely Lark. (lol) Hugs and Happy 4th! RO
DeleteThank you, RO! I hope your 4th was happy, too.
DeleteI did not know DQ was that old. Whoa!
ReplyDeleteWashi is the best :D
As yummy as that ice cream is, I'm sure they'll be around for another 40 years. Hugs and Happy Monday...RO
DeleteOnly 22,000 a month..plus you would need a few maids! LOL Yum, I do love DQ and yep, always room for ice cream! Have a Happy 4th of July Ro!
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to imagine walking through a house that large Kimberly, but I sure would get some major steps in.(lol) I totally agree with an ice cream run for just about any reason. Happy 4th to you and your family too! Hugs...RO
DeleteGreat Post. I also only use stickers and tape to add some pizazz because of art challenged.
ReplyDeleteTori @ In Tori Lex
LOL! I spend way too much time with washi tape, but it does make things look more fun Tori. I'm glad we think alike and Happy 4th! Hugs...RO
Delete50,000 square feet? Can you imagine cleaning that sucker?
ReplyDeleteAnd six kitchens. No thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the oven and stovetop in mine. Ha!
Hugs
PS. Maybe they should rent it out as apartments:) Heh.
DeleteNo need for cold air because walking from one of the kitchens to the bedroom is sure to burn a ton of calories, right?((lol) And yes, we would need to hire a many housekeepers to stay sane. Sandra, you always crack me up.(lol) Let me know how it goes once the oven and stove are gone.(lol) Hugs and Happy 4th! p.s. RO I thought the same thing about the apartments. It just seems to make more sense, maybe? Who knows(lol)
DeleteI did NOT know that about Dairy Queen! One year we went there every day on our vacation- we probably gained 10 lbs on that trip. Sure was fun though. It was next to a mini-golf place and right across from our hotel, so it was easy to splurge. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those corn grilling tips! I never would have thought of honey, or mayo or lemon juice. I will definitely be trying some of those this week!
I am definitely not artistically inclined either when it comes to drawing. Wish I was !
Have a great week!
I know, right Greg? We look at Dairy Queen and just sort of feel like it should be there. (lol) That vacation sure sounds like it was tons of fun! Even though I usually suck at mini-golf, I would have drowned my sorrows in an ice cream cone every day too.(lol) If I have to draw, I've decided to trace things. *heh* Happy 4th and Hugs...RO
DeleteI really wish I could play the piano. One of these years I'll take lessons! We love DQ Blizzards at my house - so yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt is so amazing to see people play the piano, isn't it? It just seems like a piece of moving art in some ways. Yay for Dairy Queen Lana and Happy 4th to you! Hugs...RO
DeleteFive million is a bargain price for the amount of house and land, in Australia you wouldn't get half that amount in a capital city for double that price even. I love the big elaborate American homes, they always seem to have a sense of grandeur about them. I would hate to have to clean it though, it would be never ending. The journal is looking fabulous RO! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteSome of the homes here in the US are definitely over the top and over priced, but it's fun to think about visiting or hanging out in some of the crazy places. I agree, if I did live in one I'd need a ton of housekeepers. Thanks for the judos on the journal/planner and Huge hugs! RO
DeleteBut what would a person do with that many kitchens in one house? Lol. Recently I heard there is a vagina museum in UK!
ReplyDeleteI said the same thing! That just seems like way too many reasons to cook. The Vagina Museum sounds very interesting! (lol) Hugs...RO
DeleteYou use sticki tape and stickers well:) And if you can draw stick figures you're ahead of me. Ha. I'm thinking about taking a drawing or painting class at the cc. Want to join me?
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th.
Hugs
You definitely would not want me to embarrass you by being in that drawing class Super Sandra! (lol) Hugs and Happy Thursday! RO
DeleteWhat the weather like there, Ro?
ReplyDeleteHugs
Too dang hot, Super Sandra!(lol) Happy Friday to you and the family! Hugs..RO
DeleteLOL, if you had a yard sale in California, people would definitely buy more to get the free bag... it costs ten cents a piece in the grocery stores!
ReplyDeleteYIKES! That's crazy Jen! I'm with you on that one. Happy Friday and Hugs...RO
DeleteI`m Christopher Daniel, Please contact this amazing pregnancy spell caster Prophet Abulele Who help my wife to get pregnant, this is his email address ( prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com), So me and my wife have been trying for a baby for the last 6 years now and we have had no luck. I do smoke and I only drink occasional, and she use to smoke and also have the occasional drink. I know she's slightly overweight but that shouldn't affect her chances too much, one faithful day my friend told me to contact a man called Prophet Abulele that help her aunty get pregnant, then I contact the man on this email:prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com OR WhatsApp him on +2349022406159 and follow his instruction, after three months the doctor confirm that my wife is pregnant thank you Prophet Abulele for helping me get a baby am now a proud father of twins a boy and a girl.
