MISHMASH MONDAY

While in the Air Force years ago, I joined a bowling league and really sucked (lol), but that didn't stop me from trying to land those strikes every time.  It was a great way to spend time with friends and to throw in a little exercise.
Are you a bowler, or just looking for something creative to do on a date? Well August 8 is your day to have some FREE fun at the bowling alley and impress your friends!  If you visit any of these brands:  AMF, Brunswick, Brunswick Zone, Bowlero, or Bowlmor, you'll score one FREE game of bowling from 10am - 12pm.
For more information please visit : http://nationalbowlingday.com/

Actual e-mail from Red Robin to each of of us, received

August is one of the best months ever! Well - minus the blistering heat, of course. Why, you ask?  It's my birthday, yes it's my birthday - yay! Hottie hubby's birthday comes first, then the day after that is our anniversary, then it's MY birthday.  So we (meaning me-lol) spend that period shopping for freebies.
If you enjoy a good burger and want to snag it for FREE every year, visit Red Robin.  Even better, you can eat at any time during the month of your birthday to take advantage of this awesome deal.  If you join Connected with Ruby Tuesday, get a FREE cheeseburger up to $9.99 on the day of your birthday.
Are you a Book Nerd like me and want some amazing deals on ebooks?  Sign up with Free Kindle Books at www.fkbt.com.  Many books are deeply discounted to just $ .99 or even FREE.

Sometimes you just need to get something off your chest that's impossible to share with anyone else.  If that's you, feel free to write it on a postcard and send it off to http://postsecret.com/.
I normally use unique postcards in picture frames randomly throughout the house, but this is a brilliant idea.  In addition, they have over a million LIKES on Facebook and over 38,000 followers on Twitter.

As a shout out to my buddy Anna over at at www.herdingcats-burningsoup.com, (Hey Anna!) who happens to be vegetarian, this is a site that I couldn't help being connected to.  It's simply beautiful, well organized and the recipes are put together so that even I can figure it out. You are going to get hooked on the award-winning http://www.loveandlemons.com/.  I can't wait to try the Matcha Milkshakes.

Book-a-holics like me will stop just  short of stealing when it comes to finding a book.  Save valuable time and money by checking out www.abebooks.com where there is a listing for literally thousands of books, including first editions!  If you've been searching for a novel that you haven't been able to get anywhere else, this is the place to go. Their tag line is:Passion For Books.

JUST ONE MORE THING
We've been talking about blog burnout or boredom, followers/subscribers, commenting and coming up with topics.  But what if you're the blogger on the other end of the spectrum?  Is there such a thing as blogging too much?
As bloggers, we're probably connected on social media by phone, iPad, laptop, computer or other places I probably don't know about, and that can take up time.
Are you blogging more than a zillion times a day?   Have you stopped actually working at work to share some tasty tidbits via your blog?  Are you pissing off co-workers by using blind topics that aren't really blind about work incidents?  Have you been going out of your way to do something out of character to create a blog topic?  A stranger smiled, you backed out of the driveway, you shopped at the grocery store, etc., have now suddenly become items of discussion for your blog. (lol)  Has your family become nonexistent? Are we blogging just too dang much?

  1. Hey! Advance greetings to your hubby, your anniversary and your birthday! These are all helpful links, thanks! Am I blogging too much? Certainly not this past week. I'm also the type of person who can't do anything in moderation, so...

  2. Free bowling. Can't beat that!!! Happy birthday month. My birthday is in September and I always forget about that Red Robin thing. I think I signed up a long, long time ago and I think they send me a reminder every year. We now live near one, so I need to go get my free burger! Did you know you can make any of their burgers a smaller size by just saying you want a mini version? (I think that's what it's called.) They won't do the one with egg that way, but many of the others... Their burgers are always just WAY too huge.

As for blogging, I just go through my comments and read the blogs of everyone who commented. I don't even use the follow feature anymore because people would stop reading mine and I'd be reading theirs for months! So if someone blogs four times a day, I wouldn't even know it, since I just read the last blog they posted! I can't get around to everyone every day. I do notice that most people blog only one to two times a week. I blog M, W, and F unless I'm helping someone promote a book that's coming out and they want it promoted on a Tuesday or Thursday.

    1. I had no clue about the smaller size versions, Steph. I just end up taking my home to munch on later, so thanks for that tip. Sounds like you have a good strategy to keep everything together. Big Hugs...

    1. Thanks for the well wishes. August 10 is his birthday, anniversary is the 11th, then mine is the 12th. Isn't that crazy? (lol) He'll take you when you lease suspect it, I bet. I had no idea you were vegetarian too! I'm a meat eater, but that blog really had me impressed with the food. Big Hugs and welcome back!

  5. Happy birthday month!

So much... okay, I'll respond to the blogging part. I devote my time on my blog itself, not so much via social media. If I do all of those, I won't have time for myself. If you post everyday (like myself), it's almost a full time job. Aside from chasing after that pageview, I want interactions on my post too. And for that to happen, I have to do a LOT Of blog hopping and commenting. Reading over 50 posts a day can be time consuming! Somehow I manage okay... not great, just okay.

    1. Thanks for the birthday wishes! August 12th is my day to be a princess. (lol) That's interesting, because I've seen it mostly done the other way. Clearly, your blog is pretty awesome. In fact, just moments ago I had to give you a shout out for one your topics! You're so right that it can take up some valuable time. Hugs...

  6. My dad was a big bowler. When I was a little girl, his league bowled on a Friday night and that was my night my mom, grandmom, and me would hang out. During the Christmas holiday season, we would walk through our Philly neighborhood looking at the decorated houses before stopping at a "five & dime" (anyone remember those stores?) for hot chocolate.

  8. THIS is why I love your blog so much Ro! And those burgers...gah. I can taste them now! Mmmmmm oh! and I should have said this first but HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY OMIGOSH! You guys are going to have so much fun bowling (I've never gone bowling a day in my life and have no clue how to do it. Js) I would love to try one day but.... yeah. Hehe and I agree that blogging can take a lot out of you! VERY time consuming but I like to allot myself two or three hours every week to do blog posts and schedule them. Social media I dedicate ten minutes a day that way I'm not overwhelmed. Although whenever I do mundane tasks and stuff, I do scribble notes down in my phone for later. :)

    1. Kind Keionda, I thank you so much for the kudos! I'm a serious sucker for cheeseburgers and will travel the universe to find one. (lol) It's been a while since I bowled, but definitely taking advantage of this freebie for sure. Hubby's birthday is the 10th, anniversary is the 11th and my princess birthday is the 12th! Now this is when we can tell the difference in our age and this cracks me up(lol) putting notes in phones is definitely for the young people. I scribble stuff down in my SpongeBob calendar or any piece of paper that has space left on it. (lol) Hugs...Ro
