LONGEST ICE CREAM SUNDAE
Can you believe how long this is?
In January, Nashville Michigan broke a Guinness World Record with a 3,656 foot long ice cream sundae that weighed 5400 pounds and included 864 gallons of ice cream! I wonder how long that actually lasted outside.
I love cheeseburgers, so imagine how thrilling it was to hear that Akron Ohio will pay homage to this amazing treat from August 12 through August 14 with their National Hamburger Festival. Yay!
There are a zillion writers out there, and sadly most don't make the money they deserve with their passion - but they should. On the other hand, there are some authors who've hit pay dirt with earnings in the millions.
But there is only one author in the world who is above all the rest, with a net worth of $1 billion dollars. This history maker's work was initially rejected by 12 publishers, but she didn't give up. If you guessed the very famous JK Rowling, you go to the head of the class. I bet all those people who rejected her work kick themselves every day.
Who's in second place with a net worth of about $700 million? James Patterson, of course!
Coca Cola was created in 1886 in Atlanta, Georgia.
In Springfield, Missouri, you can actually find the world's largest fork. At a whopping weight of 11 tons, I don't expect anyone will actually try to use it for a meal.

TIPS TO TRY
If you're stuck and want to do some different exercises that include dance and strength training, sign up at www.qinetic.com. You'll be able to get in on LIVE classes for FREE. You can also download the app for FREE at iTunes. This is the perfect program if you're not ready to join a class at a gym, and you can wear whatever you want. I've used this site and it's pretty much like having a personal trainer right in my living room for FREE.
Decorative pillows are a great way to accent things around the house, and they're even useful in the car on long trips. When I was a kid, I really used to enjoy making pillows because it was very relaxing. To save money and to add some color, I'm back to making my own with a twist. Place mats come in all these great materials and unusual colors, and many already have the fringe. You know all those old towels you've been hanging onto with holes in them? This is the perfect opportunity to cut them up for stuffing along with some foam. Small baby pillows are good to use, as well. Yes, I sew them by hand with yarn or thick thread because I haven't quite mastered the use of a sewing machine.
When's the best time to purchase all those summer outfits and outdoor gear? Right now, this month.
When I lived in Virginia Beach, I used to visit Stein Mart in July and found crazy deals on designer shoes. Most were marked down significantly to $5 - $10.
Men and women can find over the top bargains on bathing suits too. If you a new speedo or tankini, now's the time to grab them for a steal.
What shouldn't you buy right now? BBQ Grills
BEER PARTIES
Are you a beer drinker? I'm definitely not. I tried a Budweiser once, and it smelled like cigarette ashes. (lol) Everyone tells me I'm nuts and that beer definitely tastes different, and I haven't found the right one, but to me...ugh. Anywho, there are lots of beer festivals this summer.
The Great Arkansas Beer Festival, Little Rock Arkansas - July 22: 5:30pm - 8:30pm (These people don't want you hanging out at their festival all day-lol)
Palm Beach Summer Beer Fest, West Palm Beach Florida - July 22: 12pm - 9pm
Downtown Newark Food & Brewfest, Newark Delaware - July 22: 2pm - 9pm
DO YOU KNOW A PHUBBER?
Doesn't that sound like a really descriptive word? Well, it does have a meaning in today's society. According to www.dictionary.com, the definition is to ignore a person or one's surroundings when in a social situation by busying oneself with a phone or other mobile device. I have a friend who literally does this all the time, despite my frequent comments about it. (lol) Has it ever happened to you? Are you guilty of this habit?
Love tomatoes and that sounds like a wonderful salad. But then I love feta and olives too.
ReplyDeleteNot a phubber. My phone spends a lot of its life turned off. I like being out of contact.
Writers are my heroes - including those who don't make megabucks.
I'm a serious fan of anything with feta and olives because of the salty flavors. I'm not a phone person at all, so like you, I very rarely even use one. So no way I'd end of phubbing. I'm more likely to read a book in a social situation though. (lol) But I've improved with that habit over the years. Hugs...and Happy Saturday!
DeleteI probably need to buy a bathing suit. Would you believe I don't own one at all? I haven't been in a pool in a few years, I don't think? I go to the Y every day and walk and think, "I need to go for a swim." I keep trying to talk my husband into taking the afternoon off and joining me, but he always says, "I need to get in shape before I can go to the pool." (He obviously hasn't seen the type of people swimming at the YMCA pool!)
ReplyDeleteI agree with both of you. I need a bathing suit that's gorgeous enough to totally cover me up, so I might have to use one from the 1940's or something. (lol) I need to go to the pool, at least for the exercise, but like your hubby says, I need to find that bathing suit fast, or wait until I have this fantastic body to show off first. *heh* True, there are some strange types at the YMCA. Ask the Village people. (lol) Hugs...
DeleteRO, you share the best recipes! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch Angela. I have fun finding and trying them.
DeleteThanks for the general knowledge. I never that someone actually went and made the longest sundae. I will be checking out the exercise link you posted. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI always get so amazed at all the things that are going on in the world. That exercise program is really cool, and hope you enjoy it. Hugs...
DeleteHappy Monday RO, great post as usual. I have a secret wardrobe weapon here in the St. Louis MO area called Half of Half. They sell new clothes that are drastically reduced I've bought things there for as little as .50¢ and I bought my brand new $200 swim suit for 19.99. My daughter bought a designer dress there that was missing a belt mfp $800 she bought it for $30. Cool huh. I'm definitely making the tomato salad with tomatoes from my garden. And I always enjoy all the trivia here. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSay what Debbie? I need to find a way to get there asap for those fabulous deals!!!!!!!You are truly blessed! Isn't it wonderful to grow your own veggies? Great way to save money and to have lots of inventory on hand to make cool stuff. I'm always so thrilled when you stop by. Hugs...and Happy Saturday!
DeleteJK Rowling is amazing. I haven't read the books but I loved the Harry Potter movies.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? She didn't give up and can now write her own ticket anywhere in the world.
DeletePhubbers...enough said I think! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fork. I would totally get in on that sundae and the hamburger festival! Nice post RO!! :)
I thought a phubber was quite unique, and know quite a few of them. (lol) Isn't that fork cool? Anywhere there's a hamburger festival is where I need to be. Happy Saturday!
DeleteWe love tomatoes at our house, so the tomato salad sound amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteJenea's Book Obsession
It's pretty neat all the things they can be used in, right? Hope you have an awesome Monday! Hugs...RO
DeleteNow I could go for a peachy slushie that does sound good, I'm with you on the ice cream sundae I am sure it didn't last long outside.
ReplyDeleteGive me fun fruit any day Jimmy. That 'almost' makes the heat of summer worth it. It amazes me what people can do with those world records. Hugs...
DeleteYou are a chockful of knowledge, Ro! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! - Joyous Joy, I really miss you, girl! Happy Monday.
DeleteThat is a LOT of winnie the poohs. I'm stuck on that. lol I'd have to get a bigger house!
ReplyDeleteI've had a lot of collections over the years, at one time having over 1000 hot wheels, but when I saw all those Pooh Bears, my jaw dropped too, Anna. I mean - wow! Even now, it's still growing.
DeleteShows agents/publishers are dumb when JK Rowling got rejected that many times
ReplyDeleteAdam, you know every time a new book was released, they had to be crying real tears of regret. She could probably post those rejection letters somewhere and get paid even for that! Hugs...
DeleteWow that's a lot of winny the pooh merchandise, fun that she owns the record for that. And that's one long ice cream, I hope they ate it quickly, it would be a shame if it all melted.
ReplyDeleteI like tomatoes, but I prefer them cooked or warm over raw. That peach slushie sounds delicious! Yum!
That's awesome you make your own pillows. I am totally guilty of keeping some towels around with holes in them. When we still had rats I sometimes turned clothing with holes into hammocks and such for them or asked my mom to help.
I also don't like beer. I've tried a few, but haven't found one I liked.
I still can't believe she has that many. Like Anna mentioned, I'm sure they have their own room to hang out in. (lol) No to beer! I'm sometimes the opposite with beer, and usually prefer them cold, but they're still yummy warm. What a wonderful idea to make hammocks. Very creative. Hugs and happy Monday, Lola! Hugs...
DeleteLove the tomato salad idea. I've never thought of putting mint in a tomato dish so I'm intrigued! Now I guess I need to get up to Akron. Cheeseburgers are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteWe both need to find a way to head to Akron Katherine for that festival. Brilliant idea for any cheeseburger fan. Mint definitely gives the tomatoes a fresh flavor. Happy Monday! Hugs...RO
DeleteI was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
