HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ON A BLIND DATE?

I don't watch shows like The Bachelor, because that's just too many people to keep up with. Something about 80 people or more vying for the heart of one person at one time just seems creepy. It also takes too dang long to get to the end of the story.  However, something about watching someone go on a blind date intrigues me, so I set my trusty DVR. I get to find out right away if things will work out. Maybe it's my love of romance and wanting to see a Happily Ever After actually play out LIVE on television.

I believed in true love when I saw the very first Love Connection back in 1983 with Chuck Woolery, as well as reading all those romance novels.

Things sure have changed when it comes to blind dates.  Millions of people can watch that whole date right in the comfort of their own living rooms.

LOVE CONNECTION:REMIX

If you're looking for love, but have a thin skin, this may be a pass because you're each rated from 1-10 on initial physical impressions.  I've seen a 1, and a lot of 3's. Also, there's $10,000 to be won if you choose the date the audience picked. I adore Andy Cohen, but I came away from this feeling almost like I was watching a variety show with a really funny host.  I didn't feel any real romance though.  But at least you don't have to spend money for the date, and you find out what happens with the relationship at the end of the show.

FIRST-DATES
www.nbc.com/first-datesYou're gonna eat and pay your own way in a swanky restaurant with only couples, and the bartender and host may get up in your business BEFORE the actual date.  Also, there sure seemed like there was a lot of drinking going on, which made some of those dates even more entertaining.  One guy actually flirted with the waitress in front of his date. Say what?

DATE-NIGHT-LIVE

If you're a bartender with an English accent, good sense of humor and a size 31 jean, I'll date you.  At least that's what happened with one of the couples, and you already knew this was leading up to a sexual fling. For some reason she seemed to think her date could fit her clothes. Words of wisdom, if you're in an open relationship, you may want to add that to your profile AND lead with that on the date, so she can still have time to go out on a real date.  Also, I'm not sure that to circumcise or not is high on my date night topic list.

After the one blind date I've ever been on waaaaay back in the day, I wish I could tell you an emphatic "no", but I can't.  A really close friend fixed me up with this guy she worked with.

He arrived with a dirty gray t-shirt and shorts, uncombed hair and tried to hug me as his greeting. Yes people, I still went on the date, but I already knew I was going to curse my friend out later that night.

We got up to the window at the movie theater, and he started patting his butt for his wallet.  You already know he didn't have it, and asked me to pay.  Embarrassed, I paid because I really wanted to see that movie.  During the movie he attempted to hug me twice, which was a NO.  Despite my excitement of watching the movie, it seemed like it would never end.   At one point, I wanted to go to sleep to speed up the time, but who knows what this madman would have done once I closed my eyes. Once it was over, we pretty much rode back to my place in silence, and I rushed to get the door open and practically leaped out of that car.  After all that, he had the nerve to ask if he could see me again.  Ugh!!!!!  No more blind dates!

  1. I've never have, I struggled to get any dates when I was younger let alone one a friend managed to snag for me.

I have heard bad dates stories and some will make your date seem like prince charming. Though I didn't hear this one from a personal friend, I have heard of guys taking girls to strip clubs on their first date.

Now you might think he really didn't want to be with her and wanted to scare her off, but apparently this was a legitimate try. I could understand if a girl was bi and non-jealous but nobody knows that on a first date. Makes you wonder how these guys get the balls to try crap like that.

    1. My favorite word for guys who do crazy thing is a "deek"(lol) What woman would want to go on a date to a strip club, unless like you said, she was bi-sexual or wasn't seeking a real serious guy. Jeez, that sounds just too crazy, Adam, but sort of funny, too. (lol)

  2. Yes and the sucked. My boyfriend since 9 years was a sort of blind date, not really just sort of, we met online, I had only seen this pic, we met for coffee and the rest is history. So yes I did know what he looked like but I thought the pic was ugly haha. And then when I saw him I went all DAMN, he looks nice

  3. Only once and we had absolutely nothing in common, a friend set me up to meet this girl and to make a long story short, we drank a coke together and decided to go our separate ways....evidently this friend didn't know either of us as well as he thought he did.

That was my one and only time.

    1. At least it was a mutual decision, right? I think our friends think we really need companionship and will settle for anything. lol

  4. I went on one blind date when I was 17. It was awful. 10 minutes after we all got in the car he asks me if I put out. He got mad when I said no and asked his friend to take him home. We picked up another guy later and he was nicer but everyone got drunk and I don't drink, even back then. The driver hit a mail box and a fence and we talked him into pulling over at a park and sleeping for a while. Thankfully there was a pay phone by the bathrooms and I called my mom to let her know why I was gonna be late.

    1. OMG Mary, what a nightmare! That guy had some nerve to ask a dumb question like that on a first date. Thank goodness no one was hurt with the drunk driver AND that you had the cash to call Mom to come pick you up. Hugs...

  5. Oh RO....I'm sorry but your blind date story made me giggle...lol...I hope the movie was good at least!!! I don't know if this is considered a blind date, I guess so. Alex and I met on OKCupid, an online dating site. He wrote me a hello message on March 12th 2013 and we messaged a little bit for a day and met on the 14th. We moved in together a week later and we've been together ever since! So maybe it was a half-blind date since we were able to see each others' profile pics and message a little bit!

It was nerve-wracking though. People can photoshop now and say whatever they want lol...but I guess we got lucky. Love at first site! :) I used to love watching the handsome Chuck Woolery hosting Love Connection in the 80's! :))

I can't watch those programs. No much need on display makes me anxious. Very, very anxious.

    1. It's funny now when I look back, and I used to be the world's worst when it came to setting other people up. I literally fixed people up all the time to often disastrous results. (lol) Glad yours went well! Hugs...

  8. Oh my gosh, Ro. At least you got a funny story out of it but lordy! Can't say I've ever been on a blind date and I think probably I'm okay with that. lol

    1. You're right, it's funny now, but back in those days, I cursed like a sailor and my friend got an earful! (lol) She said he kept asking about me when they worked together for about 3 weeks!

  9. Wow! I've never been on a blind date but it's always interesting to hear experiences. This guy sounds like a disaster. What was your friend thinking? I watch The Bachelor but those first few episodes are so confusing because it's impossible to keep up with who is who. Once it gets down to a lower number it's way more fun.

    1. I agree, because of the sheer number, it's too hard to grasp when it comes to the Bachelor. (lol) I have no clue what in the heck she was thinking, but I seriously gave her an earful back then. Of course, we laugh about it now.

  10. OMG what a riot of a post RO, sorry for the bad blind date. I may have had one or two way back in the day too but luckily my senior mind can't remember them. I was a pretty shy girl and have no idea how my husband talked me into going out with him the first time. Guess its good I did after almost 40 years of marriage :)

    1. I laugh about it now Debbie, but I seriously thought the date would never end. Crazy! I love the romance of you and hubby being married for 40 years. That's so wonderful and I'd love to hear some of your stories. (lol)

  11. I have and it didn't end well. Lol have you watched Married At First Sight? I heard it'll kill brain cells faster than radiation. In other words, it's great guilty pleasure lol

  12. I have used spell casting to get my ex wife back to me and also she got pregnant with twins through the help of a great and trusted spell caster. When I came online last year, I met a testimony about Prophet Abulele who has been helping people and I decided to contact him. We spoke on email at prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com and he said he would also help me get DIANA back in three days after 3 years of no contact and also he told me he send me some herbs to make her get pregnant for me. You know when your spouse leaves you; you feel your whole world start crumbling down. There is nothing that seems right anymore. When I met Prophet Abulele, he is the best spell caster I must say. My wife called me after 3days and when I received herbal medicine for fertility, she became fertile. I and my wife reconnected, had sex and she became pregnant. I am happy today to be the father of twin’s girls and this is ALL THANKS TO Prophet Abulele. If you need help, you are saved with this spell caster, contact his email at prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com or directly on whats App him +2349022406159 and you too will give a testimony too to help others.

  13. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
