ARE YOU A RE-READER?

If you're a book nerd like me, you've probably run across a few books that were worthy of being read more than once.   Something about that love story had you picturing yourself as the heroine because the hero was so sexy and sensitive, or a thriller kept you on the edge of your seat, making you wonder who was guilty, or the plot was so unbelievable that you went to work with bleary eyes because you stayed up all night reading.

Certain authors' works will be read over and over because of the message presented in their books, or they are just perfectly written. Even though I know how it ends, those stories consistently draw me in.

Because my TBR pile is so large and my bookcase even larger, I dare not mention which writers keep me coming back for more, because the list would be endless.  There's a mix of romance, erotic romance, suspense, mysteries and motivational novels that stay with me, no matter what.

What makes you read a book again, or causes you to rave about what you've read with others?

  1. Yes! Rereading a favorite book is like having friends over for dinner. I often reread Robyn Carr's Virgin River series and Thomas Kinkade/Katherine Spencer's Cape Light series!

  2. Oh yes ! I have read Charlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre at least 8 times along the years :) But since I've got a tablet and bought a huge mountain of freebies, I don't re-read. I came upon Karina Bliss's Rise earlier this year, and I'm considering re-reading it, though. It was a rock romance, but unlike anything I've ever read, deeper and better written.

    1. Wow! Good for you on Charlotte Brontee's classic! Never heard of Karina Bliss, but I'll definitely have to check her out. Hugs and Marvelous Monday to you!

  3. I am not only a re-reader, I am a frequent re-reader! I find re-reading a well-loved book much like spending time with a friend - or being wrapped up in the comfort of a warm quilt. I couldn't begin to list the books I re-read; many go back to my childhood and young adult years, while a number of others I've discovered only in the last few years.

    1. Yes, I totally agree with you. Being able to go back to a book you really loved is very comforting. I've found myself going back to re-read old Rosemary Rogers, Kathleen Woodiwiss and Sidney Sheldon books, and glad I had find them on the shelf. Hugs...and thanks so much for stopping by.

  4. I don't re-read as much as I used to, but mostly I re-read when I need a comfort read. I want an author and story that I've already established that I love for various reasons. Depending on my mood will determine which book I will pick up.
    Good question, Ro!

    1. Hey There Sophia and hope all is well! I didn't use to re-read, but lately, I've been picking up books I read many, many years ago because they were so well-written and comforting, and I pick up a different message. You're so right - those comfort reads are wonderful to go back to. Hugs...

  5. I'm mostly a re-reader because of memory issues. When a new book comes out in a series, I usually have to re-read. I heard that there is a blog dedicated to summing up books better than a synopsis so you don't have to re-read.

The other times I'm re-reading is when I'm in a book slump. Nothing helps better than going back to authors I love!

    1. That's a really good point and one I've forgotten. Keeping up with a series can be really tough, so it makes sense to go back to those. I'm the world's worst when it comes to remembering, so checking out that blog may save me a lot of time. (lol) You're right - being able to go back to novels you know were good and don't have to wonder about is fun and wonderful before getting back to the many new authors. Hugs...

  6. I've re-read a few books but not many. When I want to revisit the characters then I might re-read a book.

    1. That's how I was years ago too, Mary. But lately, have definitely going back in time to get older books off the shelf. Many characters are definitely worth revisting. Hugs...

  7. I have a few I re-read too but not many since the tbr and review pile are so dang long. But oh those that have really really hit my heart hard...definitely land in that pile :)

    1. I can imagine your TBR and Review Pile are pretty massive already, for sure, Anna, as I remember seeing your bookcase not too long ago! (lol) But it's good to know the really good ones that stand out in your mind will eventually land in a special little area for future use. P.S. - I still have no idea how you keep everything so neat and orderly! I love it! Hugs...

  8. I haven't re-read anything other than the OUTLANDER series since blogging. If I read constantly, I might get through my ARCs and get to go back someday.

    1. I know, right? Getting through ARCs, then writing about them, can be a massive undertaking, leaving little to no time for extra reading. Eventually the ARC pile will dwindle! Hugs and thanks so much for stopping by.
