CHOCOLATE GOODY BARS

In 2000, Lynn Lhotka from Wisconsin helped her church win the Betty Crocker 50th Anniversary Cake Mix Bake Sale competition with these Chocolate Goody Bars.  How much did she win?  Five thousand dollars!

It's pretty simple to make, and you don't need a lot of special ingredients.

INGREDIENTS
1 Box Fudge Brownie Mix
1/2 Cup Cooking Oil
2 Eggs
1/4 Cup Water
1 Can of Vanilla Frosting
3/4 Cups Chopped Pecans, Walnuts or Peanuts
3 Cups Crispy Rice Cereal
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1 12 Oz. Pkg Semi-Sweet Chocolate Pieces

INSTRUCTIONS
Grease a 13x9x2 inch baking pan, then set it aside.

In a large bowl, stir together the brownie mix, cooking oil, eggs and water until well mixed.  Spread the mixture into the greased pan. Bake in your oven at 350 degrees for 28 - 30 minutes or until the toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out clean.  Cool completely, then frost and top with nuts.  Cover, and chill in the fridge.

Place rice cereal in a medium bowl.  In a small saucepan, combine the peanut butter and chocolate pieces, stirring over low heat until the chocolate is melted.  Pour over the cereal, stirring to coat evenly, then spread the mixture on top of the vanilla frosting. Cover and chill in the fridge again until the chocolate layer is set. Refrigerate if you have any leftovers. (lol)

  3. Sounds like a great cheap snack to make and freeze for later. I'll have to give this a try and maybe add some dried cherries to it. Hugs :3
