SUNDAY USELESS STUFF

I'm one of those hardcore movie people, and have been since I was a kid.  Guys learned early on to not waste their time or money by taking me to see a popular film when I was a teenager.
The minute they started thinking of sneaky ways to hug, kiss, or whisper in my ear, I'd pick up my popcorn and move to another area of the theater with a quickness.  I was there to be entertained, not to have the movie interrupted!(lol)   Apparently I'm on the very low end of the  spectrum, because according to a recent poll on a survey site, 6% of people go to the movies alone,  35% go with a significant other, and 22%  hang out with family members.

Every once in a while, a friend will drag me along to a liquor store while they purchase bags and bags of stuff to replenish their stash.  It's fascinating and funny to look at the names of all these drinks,
No, I don't have the guts to ask for this drink(lol)
which include Absinth Red Chili Head, Kinky Blue Vodka Liqueur, Virus Vodka, Screwball Peanut Butter Whisky, Rumchata Horchata Con Ron Rum, Unicorn Tears, and Chicken Cock to name a few.

No, I do not have the guts to drink this drink(lol)
By the way, if you'd like to get your alcohol buzz in one rush, check out Spirytus Rektyfikowany  which is 192 proof vodka made in Poland.  It has an alcohol content of 96%, and is the strongest in the United States.  Experts suggest not drinking it without being mixed with something else, and I totally agree(lol). In case you're wondering, rubbing alcohol comes in at 91%. Yikes!

Did you know that lots of life insurance policies go unclaimed?  To find out more for your policy or one owned by a relative who's passed on, first search www.unclaimed.org.  If that doesn't work, visit the Life Insurance Policy Locator at www.naic.org.

Apps aren't going away any time soon, so if you're thinking of the perfect career, an Application Developer is the way to go.  Better yet, be friends with one.(lol)  Right now, the average salary for this growing position is a little over $101,000, and in the United States close to 256,000 new positions will be added to the employment pool up through 2026.

Let's face it, when it comes to Father's Day, guys don't get much love.  Other than lots of colorful ties and over the top cologne, we don't see nearly as many freebies at restaurants or the overall recognition that we do with moms. But they're both equally important.   Dads' deals are based off someone else in the group purchasing a meal, so they can get the freebie.  I'm really scratching my head on why they just can't get their own stuff on June 16.  (lol)

But there is someone giving shouts out to dads at the National Father's Day Committee, and they're offering up an All Star Dad Award for that man who's not afraid to do more than expected at home with his family, as well as making a difference within the community.

PRIZE:  Round Trip Air by Coach to New York City for 4 to be taken in June 2019, 2 hotel rooms for 2 night/3 day stay and a special Father's Day Luncheon.

Enter online with your 250 word essay at www.allstar.org, or send by snail mail at:  "All-Star" Dad Contest, c/o National Father's Day Committee, 37 W. 39th Street, Ste 1102 New York, NY  10018.  All entries must be in no later than 11:59pm May 22, 2019.

Inazawa Grand Bowl in Japan
Holler House Tavern

Holler House Wooden Bowling Lanes
Do you bowl?  Is it one of your fave hobbies?  Years ago while in the Air Force, we were on a team and played every Saturday, and I got pretty good.  Fast forward to today, and not only do I suck, but it's so dang expensive!  Did you know that the Inazawa Grand Bowl located in Japan is the largest bowling alley in the world with 119 lanes, and certified by The Guinness World Book of Records?
Some Bras for your review(lol)
The oldest tenpin bowling establishment, which still has all the original wood is called Holler House, and has been around since 1908 in Wisconsin.  The owner started a tradition that is still alive today. First time visitors  take off their bras, autograph them then hang them in various locations throughout the bar.  It's a cool bowling alley, but it's really more well known for being one of the best taverns around the area.  With  over 1000 bras on display, I can see why!(lol)

Did you know that if you don't do a lot of traveling, and need to take a trip that you can actually rent luggage instead of purchasing it?  Visit www.rentluggage.com, and save hundreds of dollars!

I talk specifically about women being abused here, and even though we may never know all the statistics, men are abused by women as well.  They just don't want anyone else to know.  I have a friend I've known for years who's been telling us he had been robbed or was involved in neighborhood fights because of a lot of bruises, scratches and black eyes, but it wasn't until very recently while watching television one afternoon, that I actually saw my friend on a reality tv court show! It probably never occurred to him  that someone he knew would see him.  I realized his girlfriend that I also knew, had been physically attacking him for quite some time.  It was so bad that once she actually kicked him out of the car, then attempted to run over his leg where he had fallen, before driving off.  Eventually he lost his job due to missing time from work for his injuries or spending a lot of time in court.  Sadly, they are still together, and he prays that they can make it work.  Me...I simply pray for his life.

If you or someone you know is being abused, reach out.  Don't be ashamed, because you've done nothing wrong. If you're a friend, be a friend. Don't become frustrated or say mean-spirited things because your friend or family member won't leave, or keeps going back.  On average, someone who is being abused leaves 7 times before getting out of the relationship for good.   Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or someone local in your state or country.

  6. When younger and at college, l was always at
the cinema/pictures..three free periods a week,
l used to jump on a bus to Bournemouth, and go
to the ABC..Usually to watch the Hammer Horror
    films..Peter Cushing..Christopher Lee..Loved them,
and still do..always went alone, never took a bird/
female/girl/woman...saved my money for extra popcorn!
    HeHe! Great fun..! :).

And Fathers Day..I was a single parent for 14yrs from
1980, for some reason l used to received a Fathers and
Mothers Day card..nice! But then, with my Sicilian
upbringing, l can compete in many things that most Mums
do...! And..There have been surveys to show that children
raised by one parent, can turn out better than one raised
with two..Do l believe in surveys..??? NO! :(.

The Bras in the bowling club made me laugh..though..going
back to the old days, they had to have something to carry
their balls in..so..if you were married to a BIG lady..so
    much the better..
"What did the bra say to the hat" ???
"You go on a head..l'll give these two a lift" :).

  8. And if bowling ever loses popularity and Holler House goes out of business, the owner can just open a bra store.

I'll never understand people who stay with an abusive partner. They really need psychiatric help or counseling, but it's hard to get that for an adult who doesn't want it.

    Fun stuff.

    1. I imagine there are lots of crazy stories attached to The Holler House.(lol) Sometimes abuse starts off so subtly, that over time self esteem becomes affected. Some people just believe that a person will change, and some are in a financial bind, making it nearly impossible to leave. Even worse is a person who has threatened or tried to leave and nearly killed, causing them to go back in fear. Those who are now survivors do seek counseling to help get through the trauma, and to look for red flags to avoid getting into other abusive relationships. I could probably bend your ear about abuse for hours and you could do the same with me and politics.(lol) Hugs, and I always love when you stop by! RO

  9. My eyes just did that cartoon pop out thing over those crazy drinks and the alcohol content of that vodka.

Ah, yes, Father's Day does come in second. Although, I love taking my dad to the ball game and buying his hot dog and peanuts. His local minor league team does do free hot dogs for the dad when their home game falls on Father's Day. :)

119 lanes! Wow! I enjoy bowling, but I've always been lousy at it. That's funny about the bra tradition at that tavern. :)

Sadly, yes, on the silent violence victims. Men definitely do not want to admit to it and are as likely to keep trying at the doomed relationship. I'm glad to see you bringing that out. I fought hard to help educate about this when I was on the Fatherhood Initiative Committee and my caseload was strong on single dads who won custody because the mom's were the abusers of both him and their child. This is an issue dear to my heart. Thanks for bringing it out, Radiant Ro!

  15. Once again, I'm late visiting. I always LOVE your quirky, often unexpected posts. Too bad about your friend. I hope this is time six and the next time is the time he leaves for good. I know the heart wants what the heart wants, but the body can only take so much abuse.

I don't go to movies. I went as a child when they were affordable and I could go using my allowance. But today, I have to be rich to see a first run movie in my area. The same goes for bowling. I was NEVER any good at bowling, since my arthritis (a rare form I was born with) interferes. And yes, it is expensive, too. In fact, our one bowling alley is on the brink of going under.

I'll stick with 91% rubbing alcohol, because I can use it in my art. The other would just collect dust, since I'm not a drinker.

App developers are probably the latest group to get good paying jobs. After all, the airplane industry is drying up, auto makers are cutting jobs, and manufacturing in general has taken a nose dive.

I hope you know a father who you can steer to that award. Hope you have a fabulous Sunday and week, too, dear RO!!! BTW, I finally found a good home for my new rocking horse.

I'm not much of a drinker never have been a glass of wine now and then an occasional beer w a pizza in summer that's it. But I do love to shop for cool alcohol presents for friends who had a bar or who I think would like them. I found some Oddka for Christmas for a few friends, flavored vodka in cut grass, Apple Pie and Salty Caramel and it really went over well.
OMG your poor friend, I'm glad more women are now stepping forward to tell of their abuse and I just hope someday men will too. I think it's the shame factor for men, you know they should be the strong gender etc and reporting their partners for abuse just doesn't work for them, so in that case I wish they would have the courage to leave. But the abusers of both genders need to face the music big time! I'm not a movie goer, never have been. If its not in print I don't really care for it :) Hugs my friend!! xo <3

Although what I do when I am single is I prefer to go in the mornings, hardly anyone goes in at 10 am and less risk of the movie being interrupted by cell phone glares or talking families and couples.

    1. I agree. Going in the mornings makes it less crowded, and you can really pick where you want to sit, or even move around(lol) Less interruptions too! Hope all is well! Hugs...RO

  39. I always approach your blog with a smile because of its rhyming title (In the Know with Ro).
As for abused people. I had a neigbor (woman)who was treated badly by her husband. The two daughters could have done something about their mother, but sadly, they didn't. In a case like this, even if the social services know they won't do anything about it.

  43. I'm so sorry about your friend. And I'm sure it's hard to see him staying in the relationship when he would probably be safer and healthier if he left.

The beverages made me laugh. There are some really creative names out there! I'm almost tempted to try Unicorn Tears just to get the bottle.

  48. As you probably know, my Dad was abused by my mother for years, and he refused to tell anyone because it was unheard of at the time. No one would have taken him seriously. Because both my brother and myself were abused by her too, we kinda thought it was "normal" behaviour.

  49. Hi Ro!

I rarely go to the theater anymore but when I do I go alone. I want to watch the movie not talk lol. I also don't like bowling, I just never liked it as a kid and when I got dragged into it by friends as an adult I discovered I still didn't like it. I think it's because when you're up all the attention is on you and I don't feel comfortable in situations like that.

And sadly I know one too many men who are being abused by their wives or girlfriends but they laugh it off because they're supposed "to be men" and handle it. Especially here where men have to be macho or been seen as less than a man.

    1. Hello there Awesome Adria, and hope things are going well while you're on hiatus. You're right, bowling does put all the attention on you while throwing that huge ball down the alley, especially if you get a gutter ball, so I totally get it. I need to be able to see my movie with no people interruptions for sure. I agree, it's so sad that men are expected to be macho and have to cope with the abuse. I hope more start to speak up soon, but I know it's rough. See you over on Instagram! Hugs...RO

  57. I`m Christopher Daniel, Please contact this amazing pregnancy spell caster Prophet Abulele Who help my wife to get pregnant, this is his email address ( prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com), So me and my wife have been trying for a baby for the last 6 years now and we have had no luck. My wife don't have a regular cycle so it is hard for her to tell when she's ovulating or not, but we always have sex at least 4 times a week, sometimes more. I know it can take up to a year to conceive but everyone I know who have had a baby have conceived within 2-3months of trying and it is really getting to me. I had a fertility test about a year ago and my sperm were fine. So I was thinking it could be a problem with my wife but she never had any symptoms of any problems. I do smoke and I only drink occasional, and she use to smoke and also have the occasional drink. I know she's slightly overweight but that shouldn't affect her chances too much, one faithful day my friend told me to contact a man called Prophet Abulele that help her aunty get pregnant, then I contact the man on this email:prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com OR WhatsApp him on +2349022406159 and follow his instruction, after three months the doctor confirm that my wife is pregnant thank you Prophet Abulele for helping me get a baby am now a proud father of twins a boy and a girl.

  58. WORK WITH A HACKER

When it comes to investing in general, the old proverb "if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" still holds true and should be kept in mind. This holds particularly true for digital currency. I invested a total of $280,000 since I saw that many profit-seeking speculators go to deceptive websites that offer so-called guaranteed returns or other arrangements that need investors to deposit big sums of money in order to receive even larger assured returns.
Unfortunately, these false promises resulted in financial ruin when I tried to withdraw my money and discovered that I couldn't. To make a long tale short, I informed my husband, who then employed Captain Jack Crypto, a hacker, to help. Fortunately, we were able to restore what I've lost with the wizard's assistance. If you are interested in making an online investment, I advise you to conduct a thorough examination before committing to any kind of investment. If you have already fallen victim to an investment scam and are searching for a professional hacker, I suggest that you contact Captain Jack Crypto. Here are his contact details:

Captainjackcrypto@europe.com is the email address he uses.
