MONDAY MEDLEY

Have you met the very gorgeous Dr. Sandra Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper?  Even if it grosses you out to look at weird medical procedures, it won't be long before she ropes you into a major binge of her television program on TLC.

This perky dermatologist takes away all your fears of minor surgery, and once it's all over, you just want to hug her for making you feel better. This includes removing large growths, keloids, pimples and other mysterious growths.  It's fascinating to see the final resolution, and strangely addictive. You've just gotta get through all that gory stuff. (lol)
Before and after. she knows her stuff!

I need to numb you up before digging into that lump please

The Daytime Emmys include awards for cooking shows, so I'll bet lots of professional chefs were shocked when Valerie Bertinelli, who won a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe Award way back in 1981 and 1982 for One Day at a Time, won an Emmy for Outstanding Culinary Host AND Outstanding Culinary Program.  She is also known for her role on Hot in Cleveland, and you've probably adored her cuteness on The Kid's Baking Show on the Food Network with the fantastic Duff Goldman.

Did you know you can save money on gas and toll charges by using www.waze.com?  This is a great app you can use to carpool with someone who's using the same route you do for appointments or work.  Pair up and save!

If you live in NC and get a hankering for ice cream, Yelp has already chosen the best place to go, and it's called Surfin' Spoon.  There are plenty of yogurt flavors to choose from, and there's an area for you to pick your own toppings and syrups.

If you want to beat the heat in Arizona and dare to be different, head to Novel Ice Cream where their new flavor Turtle Cheesecake is all the rage.  Some of the menu choices like peanut butter ice cream with yummy bacon and bananas, are simply over the top.

Don't you just love hearing about random acts of kindness?  A 9-year old in Illinois noticed that their mail carrier was having a bad day in the blistering heat, and had a bright idea.

She started putting out a cooler with water, drinks and snacks on her porch at her home and those of her grandparents with a note for them to feel free to take.

Her kind acts were so much appreciated, that it wasn't long before she received special recognition from the Postmaster General in Washington DC, and she was shocked.

We see you Lydia Ziegler, and thank you!

There's still time to overnight those airline tickets to me for my Switzerland trip(lol)

  1. And to think, all I sent you was a planner and cheeseburgers. Airline tickets will be from someone who loves you a TON!!!

I've never seen the Dr. and don't want to. I'm not into reality like that. However, I AM into Valerie and her cooking reality. I love how she judges the children on cake shows. She's fair and kind when she tells them they have to go home. You couldn't ask for a better host.

I've often considered leaving cold drinks in summer and hot mugs of warm drinks in winter, but a child bested me. Good for her.

Once again, happy birthday, dear RO.

    1. All things that I absolutely adore so much dear Elizabeth! I agree. She does a great job of judging kids on the Kids Baking Championship along with Duff, and their constructive criticism is so well done. I don't know if I'd have the guts to do it without crying.(lol) Dr. Pimple Popper - I'd love to know who came up with that name-lol, is just so bubbly and not grossed out over her chosen profession. I don't know how she does it. That 9 year old kid is just wonderful. It warms my heart o see young people start off early in life with kind hearts. That always gives me hope for the future. Thanks again for everything! Hugs, RO

  2. Dr pimple Popper grosses me out. My hubby records them all. Someitimes I look at people with theese gross enormous things and think, why did you wait? Why not see a doctor. no one knows better than me how awful it is when you can't afford what you need. I live this daily. But my God if I had a horn at the top of my head that was 3 inches long I think I'd ask to make payment arrangements and have this removed. And she was getting married. Good for that guy who liked her with horns on her head!!
I like Val's but Emmy worthy? I think they were star struck.

    1. LOL! I agree, it's very gross to watch for sure, but her perky personality just seems to make it all better. Yes, allowing growths to get that large due to lack of funds is sad and I imagine painful and embarrassing, and that payment plan would be wonderful. I love Valerie too, but I have to wonder if all the chefs on that show, some who have been on the Food Network for years, were shocked and maybe even a little angry. Sure hope you're doing okay this weekend, and sending lots of hugs your way! RO

  3. Hmm, that's an unfortunate juxtaposition.....no one will want to watch the culinary program right after the Sandra Lee program, I am sure. Talk about an appetite suppressant. I've had surgery and I'm glad that people with the necessary skills exist, but it's not something I'd ever have any desire to watch.

That must have been nice for the mail carrier, aside from the fact that it was too hot for anyone's dog to chase him.

    Happy birthday!

    1. OMG - As soon as I saw your response, I couldn't stop giggling because it sort of makes sense. (lol) Oh to be inside your brain for just one day, would surely make me brilliant! I'm very quirky, and I'm the go to person for strangers, friends and family to tell all about their ailments - and then I go watch all these medical shows to try to figure it all out for them(lol) Hope your Tuesday is amazing! Hugs, RO

    1. The marketing person who came up with that name for her is brilliant. And it's ironic that her real name of Sandra Lee is the same as the wonderful chef from the Food Network.(lol) It's plain gross, but fascinating too, Gorgeous Greg. Valerie is really kicking some butt, and she seems to have such a bright and cheery personality too. That kid is pretty amazing, and heart is amazing. I know her parents are super proud. Hugs, RO

  21. What a great post-ful of information! I have not heard of Dr. Pimple Popper and I'm thinking I won't be watching her shows....ewwwww! I love seeing Valerie Bertinelli doing well. A friend told me she loves her cooking show and I didn't even know she had one. Oh yummy ice cream treats! Thank goodness there's still enough summer left to enjoy all of the flavors! And I think it's just wonderful when a child comes up with generous and thoughtful ideas. Just when you thought there was no hope for the future generations (LOL!)..... And a BIG BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Didn't you use the tickets I e-mailed you? Darn. Now it's too late and they're non-refundable :/ Hope it's an amazing year!
