IT'S MY BLOG AND I'LL CRY IF I WANT TO

It's your blog.  Can you say whatever you want, whenever you want?

If you ever visit Braine over at Talk Supe Blog, you'll notice the prolifically expressive and witty tone in her posts.   She's deliriously funny and you'll be impressed, as I am. I mention her today because of her latest title, "Gush 'n Gripe: Haters Gonna Hate, Hate, Hate" http://www.talksupeblog.com/2015/08/gush-n-gripe-haters-gonna-hate-hate.html
Braine's cool pic from her blog

She's a little peeved over some of the rampant negativity and toxic mean girl antics displayed throughout the blogosphere lately, and it made me wonder, can we say what we want on our personal blogs?

Let's face it.  Even in the business world bad customer service is repeated to at least 4 people or more, but if a cashier or sales rep provides sterling service, someone else rarely hears about it.  It appears to be the same way in the blogging world.  Some blogs can verbally skewer a writer, an actor, or even a friend and before we know it, they're making thousands in revenue and their popularity soars.  Others may be brutally open, sharing raw feelings of regret, anger, frustration, the tragedy of lost love or their financial struggles on a daily basis, and their payoff could be a loss of followers.  Most people simply don't want to hear about Negative Nellie on a consistent basis.  It's just too much.

I suspect that blogging is much like selling things at a yard sale.  One person thinks the items we are selling are out of this world fantastic helping us to earn a ton of money, while others may call our things junk, laughingly leaving our yards empty handed. But somehow, there still manages to be something for everyone.

There are hundreds of blogs about book reviews, a ton of fashion blogs, or many that focus on cooking.  The blog topics throughout the world are numerous because people have a point of view. They've never met us in person to know who we really are, so people are attracted to or turned off by what we have to say based solely on our presentation.  It's our blog after all, right?

If we don't do or say the right thing, viewers can turn us off just as easily as they can change a channel on the flat screen television.

Being honest, we've put ourselves out there, and while it would be nice for our fancy blog to be loved unconditionally, it's inevitable, despite our best efforts not to, that we'll say something to piss someone off.  At the opposite end of the spectrum, we'll visit someone else's artsy blog and get irritated.  We all have our thresholds in life and in blogging, and every action can bring a reaction.  We hope like crazy that it's positive, but it may not be. The payoff is talking about our love of books, sharing recipes and ideas and maybe, just maybe creating lifelong friendships.

JUST ONE MORE THING
Mission Impossible actually started as a series in 1966, and ended in 1973.  It started again from 1988 - 1990 and that's when I began to watch it.  It wasn't until much later that I went back to the original to see how they compared.  Fast forward to 1996 and Tom Cruise.  Yay!  Everyone thinks I'm nuts, but I watch these movies watch over and over.  If they show up on television, I'm watching. When I need a quick jolt of adrenaline, I pull out the DVDs.  So when Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was released I was doing my happy dance!

Tom Cruise is agile and ballsy enough to do most of his own stunts. At 53, you may be surprised to know that it was all him hanging off that airplane that was headed up to the friendly skies in this latest sequel.  And the rest of the gang is all in on the action too.

This is actually a great date movie with plenty of things to rave about once the movie is over. Mission Impossible 6 anyone?

  1. I loved ghost protocol. I'd say it's one of my favorite action movies. I'm probably going to see rouge nation as well, but with the prices movie tickets are now a days, I will probably just rent it.

    1. I did too, Jenny and have watched it at least 5 times! (lol) Maybe you can see it on-line as well. It was really a good one. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hugs...

  2. I agree. I've made a few negative type blog posts and it seems like I get more comments on those when I point out that I don't like something or have a rant. I try to be positive most days though.

    1. I've seen both and take it in stride. I just hate to see someone personally bashed for a difference of opinion. I think we all have bad days and good days. If you feel like ranting sometimes, go for it, Mary! (lol) Hugs...

  3. True RO.. one's word as a blogger cannot entirely sit well with every reader out there. In as much as we have a desire to spew out our minds on any issue, we must also try as much as possible to create a balance in the topic. Especially on topics bordering on gender.

Thanks for dropping by over at my blog.

    1. Totally agree with the balance, and would hate to offend anyone, but I think it happens no matter what. Thanks a bunch for stopping by! Hugs...

    1. Ditto. We each get into blogging for our own reasons, and for many it could therapeutic that it's used for venting. I've seen some crazy things, but still follow the same blogs. Those differences are what make them unique and interesting. hugs...

  5. I remember watching the series as a kid - hey, there was Leonard Nimoy in it ! And Martin Landau ! But it was not my favorite (I had the softest spot for The wild wild West back then).
When it comes to blogging;.. I find it funny how bloggers often think about their stats and numbers of visitors. I write whatever I want and if people don't like it, they'll leave and I won't have to suffer their negative coms and they won't have to suffer my style ? Win-win ;) But if I'm being completely honest, my blog is a lot wiser than it was at the beginning, more safe for work - if you check out my earlier "hotties of the week", you won't be disappointed, lol ! I tamed my style a little because I wanted to be able to surf blogs at work, so I made sure mine could be surfed at work by others too. A fair trade :)

    1. Yes, Leonard Nimoy truly rocked and was great in Columbo, too! As you know, my goal has always been to reach out to victims of domestic violence, and some people are just uncomfortable with it. But I also love trivia, recipes contests, books and other things, so I get a good mix. Thanks so much for your feedback! BIG Hugs...

  6. I saw Braine's post and found it a refreshing reminder to both watch what I say especially when I'm having a Jonah day and to be aware that folks won't always agree and that's okay too.

And Tom Cruise is the boss for doing his own stunts. I can barely run down the sidewalk without tripping these days. :)

    1. LOL! Don't get me started talking about tripping over my own two (or 1 ) feet/foot! I'm the world's worst. You are so right Super Sophia. Many bloggers can put it out there without feeling bad about hurting someone's feelings, but I'm a big believer in treating others as I would wish to be treated. If we agree to disagree (of course that happens), I think there's a kind way to communicate that. Totally love Braine! She rocks! Hugs... and Happy weekend!

  8. Yes, I'm learning this as I go along. Still, there's that tiny voice at the back of my mind that urges to censor what I say and what I write. Or thinks my ideas are stupid.
