If you've been around me for any length of time, and we've sort of hung out, you'll eventually be blessed with this question, "Do you remember...?" I could be talking about something on television, a crazy event that we shared, a family moment or something we ate. If it happened, it's fair game. I try to minimize repeats because my son or just about anyone else will promptly cut me off. (lol)
Anywho, I went to the store the other day and saw candy that brought back some precious memories like plenty of old school candy that used to cost dang near next to nothing!

Yummy String Candy |

Dots! |
|
Chico Sticks and Fake Cigarettes in the store that I had to have! (lol)
When I was a kid, every Saturday night was dedicated to dancing the night away, until I started to leave earlier and earlier from the club. Eventually, 30 minutes was just too long. (lol) |

Did you wear these? |
|
Yes, I wore these and still have them and a few more! |
|
Yes, I wore these, but no way can I get in them now! (lol) |
Did you ever watch these two detective shows?
|
Hot, hot, hot! |

Fun!

I read these classic romance novels over and over again, and still have them on my shelves.

No matter how many times I tried, I could NEVER stay up on these skates! |
|
Yes, I rode my brother's Big Wheel all the time |
We had a television like this, and the knobs always fell off. We spent most of our time adjusting those horrible antennas.
Speaking of televisions, did you love the Galloping Gourmet?
Lol! Good times, good times. :) I stopped going to the bars at 23 years old.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I think that's about when I stopped too, Joy! Boring.
DeleteIn my head candy bars are 50 cents. It's always a bit of a shock that they're not. I think I'm a little younger than you because your TV mentions are just a little before my time but I love me some saddle shoes!
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Candy bars are super expensive these days, which is probably a good way to get me to stop eating them and lose some dang weight. (lol) You're a lot younger than me! Saddle shoes are such fun, aren't they?
DeleteOh my gosh SO many memories!!! When I was a kid, the roller rink was our disco. I never really did the clubbing thing until I hit my 30s and I realized I hated it!
ReplyDeleteFor sure, right? The club scene is highly overrated. I loe to dance, but I can do without the deafness at the end of the night, and grinding sweaty bodies. (lol) I was a serious tomboy, but for the life of me I could not stay up on roller skates! Happy Saturday! RO
DeleteI don't remember penny candy but I remember nickel and dine candy. I had a pair of those skates and I fell down on my tail bone so many times. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteLOL! These days, I'd take some candy for just ten cents! (lol) Don't remind me about those skates. What a nightmare, and know you feel my pain.
DeleteI have both of those books on my shelves, too! Back in high school, I made book covers out of brown paper bags because I wanted to read them during 7th period study hall. And, yes, I was a big fan of those detective shows! I sometimes catch the reruns on cable. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteI had them, then lost them a while back. I went to a book sale, and was thrilled to find the whole series again for just $. 25 each. Yay to you for the paper bags, you naughty girl! (lol)
DeleteI remember candy cigarettes and disco, but I never wore shoes like that! Yes, we had a TV with antennas. It worked best when someone stood beside it and held on to an antenna. I didn't watch those detective shows, but I did watch The Rockford Files and Columbo!
ReplyDeleteAnd ditto on the roller skates.
Weren't those candy cigarettes something else? Despite playing around with those, I never smoked a real cigarette a day in my life. The tv's were interesting and are so different from today's television. You're a Columbo fan? Yes!!!! I have the older DVD's and think he was the best detective ever! Uhh...Just One More Thing" was the kiss of death for the perp! (lol)
DeleteI'm a teenager, but I was raised by my 80's loving aunt, and I can relate to so many of these!! Lol, my friends always tease me because I still have a record player.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so neat!I wish I still had my record player. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs...
