Most people who are calling want me to do something, so I'm probably avoiding them anyway. (lol) Meanwhile, they'll leave detailed voicemails, (do people still use those?)which may not even get noticed until 2-3 days later because I can never remember where I left the dang phone! So the best way to reach out to me is usually through messages via Social Media, or by email. Those I can never lose.
Rest in Peace, my funny friend |
Everyone used to have house phones, but very few people have those these days. There are giant phones, tablets and small phones that people use so they are easily reached almost every second of the day. People are chatting in line at the grocery store, having conversations in the doctor's office, or going on hikes with phones. They're in our purse, on our hips, in our hands or on stands beside us.
But what about you? Can you live without your cell phone? Have you ever misplaced it? Would it cause a major disaster if you lost it?
According to www.themeparkinsider.com, there are some things you should know before heading out to your fave amusement park this weekend.
For all the young people(or people my age-lol) who think they can proudly make out in those dark rides, think again. Smile - you're on not one, but many cameras for safety and security reasons. If you really want to get crazy in love, choose that moment to get into a fight, or make fun of the person in front of you, the employee who catches you on screen will grab popcorn, then ask the rest of the team to come check out all the action too (lol)
For some reason lots and lots of cats love to hang out in Disneyland once you've gone home exhausted and the park is closed. Even better, the cats are treated like kings and queens, and it's a win-win situation. They are fed and vaccinated, and the park gets rid of any pesky rodents who dare to visit.
The best way to save some of your money so you can spend more on treats, is to NOT purchase your tickets at the park. You can get deals from AARP, by being a veteran, some companies offer them, and on-line at the park you want to visit.
I admit to being completely attached to my cell phone. I use it for text, email, FB, Twitter, Pokemon Go, keeping track of my family members via Life360, and more. The one thing I hardly ever do is make a call on it.
ReplyDeleteBut that may change. Our house phone is getting about 10 spam calls a day. We are thinking of getting rid of it, which means I'll have to start answering calls on my cell. Grr.
OMG! That's a lot of stuff, but I'm particularly impressed with Pokemon Go, girl! (lol) It's super interesting that less people actually talk on the phone anymore, and I wonder what it will be like 20 years from now. Those spam calls are really a a pain in the middle of dinner, right? Hugs and happy weekend!
DeleteSad as it is, I can't be without my phone. Probably not as bad as forgetting my book at home. It's still disconcerting not having it on hand.
ReplyDeleteYour boss is funny. Lol.
YIKES! If I leave a book at home, I go into a panic! The phone - not so much! *heh* He was definitely a character. (lol)
Deletethere's no problem if I don't have my phone with me, it's phone numbers that I worry about since I can never remember them so in a way having a phone is having the numbers I need and I also I have a very plain phone that can only make calls and text a little.
ReplyDeleteof course, if the battery is dead, then a phone is quite useless right? charging them is a real pain. do people charge their phone every day? the way phones are these days, the battery life just get suck away because of all those multiply functions...
anyway, have a lovely day.
I think people are keeping the chargers in cars and at home, just in case, right? Keeping up with contacts is a good reason to have a phone, especially if you know you haven't written it down anywhere. Hugs and Happy Weekend!
DeleteThat is awesome about the cats and Disneyland! It makes so much sense on a rodent level as I'm sure on the food that people drop over the course of the day attracts them.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I'm seldom without my phone and would probably have a meltdown if I lost it. Though I very rarely make calls anymore! Most communication goes through text message. We did drop our house phone last year and I was worried it would end up being a problem but it really hasn't. We use my number as the primary house number for school and stuff and it's worked great. All we were getting on the house phone was people with thick accents claiming to be from the IRS and threatening our arrest or something. I don't miss those!
I'm hearing that more and more people are getting those crank calls on a land line, and it's crazy! I thought that was really cool about the cats, as well. Everyone I talk to really gets mad at me for not being more anxious about my phone. (lol) Oh well... Hugs...
DeleteI see a children's picture book featuring those kitties who hang out at Disneyland.
ReplyDeletelol - Very cool idea! Hugs...
DeleteI laugh b/c until last year I didn't even own a cell phone. I had to fend off family and friends who insisted, but I had a health emergency last year and that was that. I now have a phone that is smarter than I am- I forget to charge it or don't hear it b/c I have the ringer set low. It took me forever to figure out how to access the text messages. LOL Definitely want to email me or message me if you need a response.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about the security cameras in the tunnel of love rides. I always figured it was a bucket list type move to make out in those things anyway.
Didn't know about the mouser cats at Disney, but that's really neat.
LOL! You remind me so much of me with the phone thing, Super Sophia! Everyone gets up in arms if I don't have that dang cell phone. Can you just picture all the people who have been LIVE on camera for all to see? (lol) Wow! I thought that was cool about the cats, too! Glad they're being so well taken care of.
DeleteI can't live without my cell phone, but not to talk or text on it! I listen to audiobooks/podcasts while I'm in my car or at the gym--that's all on my iPhone. I have a Kindle app, so if I'm stuck in a doctor's office waiting room or something, I can read. My camera's on it, so if I need to take a picture, I can. I also can check to see if I've gotten any important work emails...or NOT! Oh, and there's Facebook, the ultimate time zapper. I will go back for my cell phone if I forget it at home, but not much else!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Stephanie, it sure looks like there's no need to have your phone number, huh, girl? (lol) But you are really good about being connected on Social Media, andd I can't for the life of me figure out how you get it all done! Writing kiddie books, writing for magazines, hanging out on Social media, having a hubby, and oh yeah - sleeping and eating! (lol) Hugs...
DeleteHaha! I've actually been without my phone for a little while and had a mini heart attack, not because I didn't have it physically in my grasp, but because I didn't have that immediate connection to the outside world. I'm not one of those people that are always in their phones (Well,... not always. sometimes I do but I try not to be)hehe! And now I want to go to an amusement park. Thanks Ro...
ReplyDeleteHey Keionda *Waving from an amusement park-lol* I've gone for a few days without mine, only to find it under the car seat with several missed calls. (lol) Hope all is well. Happy Weekend - RO
DeleteMy phone is with me 24/7 and I totally freak if I forget it or can't find it. lol I've been that way since I was 20ish when I started the rescue because I always had to have my phone with me for animal emergencies with foster homes or the vet or whatnot who would call all hours of the day/night. Plus my family is all out of state and they don't do social media so the phone is the only way for us to chat and no house phone. So. Yeah. I would panic without it. lol
ReplyDeleteYou're involved in so much that I can't imagine you NOT having your phone either. (lol) I think you even pick up on the first dang ring, girl! Hugs...
DeleteThese types of questions always crack me up because I'm 46 and I've never had a cell phone. I sound like I just walked into a 12 step program. Hello, my name is Mary and I don't own a cell phone. lol
ReplyDeleteI only have a house phone and I got rid of the voice mail on it. I do still have called ID but I hate checking messages so if I answer then I wanted to talk to you, if I don't answer...well, I guess I didn't want to talk to you. lol
Magnificent Mary, I totally get it! There are still some old fashioned people out there who just want to talk on their phones, but I'm not sure there are that many these days, right? The not answering thing - Yes! (lol) Hugs...
DeleteSadly I am a cell phone fanatic... I never thought I would be but I got hooked... I do put my phone away from me and ignore it for a couple of hours here and there... I am honestly way to plugged in... I have to force those breaks... xox
ReplyDeleteThere was a time when I was in your shoes, and it first it was exciting. As the years progressed, I started wishing that phones would disappear slowly so that no one noticed. )lol) Good for you that you can force a break now and then! (lol) Hugs...
DeleteLol, I think it's a generational thing. I know I can't leave the house without a cellphone. That said, I dislike texting and would rather talk on the phone. I can live without a TV though but I need to have my internet
ReplyDeleteNow that's very interesting Braine. I thought most young people appreciated the convenience of the text, but I see you have a little bit of "old school" there when wanting to actually chat with people. (lol) I agree. It would be hard to live with out Internet. Hugs...
