FRANKENSTEIN FRIDAY & FUN STUFF

Frankenstein was created in 1818 by Mary Shelley when she was just 21 years old, and his day has been celebrated as a holiday since 1997 on the last Friday of October.  This is a great time to re-read the book or watch one of the many versions of the classic movie.

Nope, we're not talking about the green ghosts from the movie Ghostbusters.  This is actually a cool cocktail. You'll be surprised how good this drink is, and it's super simple to make.

GREEN GHOSTS
In an ice-filled shaker, shake 2 oz. gin, 1/2 oz. Green Chartreuse liqueur, and a generous squeeze of lime. If you like, the glass can be decorated with a lime or kiwi wedge. Strain it into a scary glass or even a lab beaker to make it more fun.

The 1st Apple iPod was released in 2001 for about $399.  Then in 2009, they came out with one that was 22k gold  and set with over 200 diamonds.  The cost?  $233,000!

By the way today, you can preorder the Apple iPhone which is almost $1000, in space gray or silver!

If you watch Price is Right a lot, all the models all do the same thing when presenting a prize.  The next time it comes on, notice that they never show their backs to the audience.  This is really noticeable when they walk around a vehicle.

SCARY READ
Jennifer McMahon is known for writing fantasy and horror stories, so if you want to read a ghost story this weekend, check out The Winter People.  Ruthie wakes up one morning to find that her mother, who's a recluse, has mysteriously vanished.

FREE STUFF
Still stumped with what to do for Halloween?
If you like to dress up, be sure to visit www.Hip2Save.com to see which places offer up free treats for you or the kiddies.  But if you just want to relax at home with popcorn and cheeseburgers, visit www.popcornflix.com for free scary movies.

But if you're like me, it's Hallmark Christmas movie time!  Yes, I'll be watching the same old repeats, along with 12 new movies leading up to Christmas Day.  Yay!

COUPON DEALS
If you live in an area with a Harris Teeter grocery store, October 29 - October 31 they will offer Super Doubles, where you can double coupons up to $2.00.

PLANNER
I tend to forget a ton of stuff, so I entertain myself and remember things by keeping a Planner.

Most people have these really awesome planners because they're artists and creative, but because I suck at drawing(lol), I'm always looking for deals on stickers.

These say they were on sale for $.50, but they were actually just ten cents at Walmart, and I was doing the happy dance.  The manager in that department said she just hadn't had the time to change the sticker price.

  4. I LOVE your planner!! Stickers are a great idea! I have a few journals that I use and sometimes I really just don't have time for drawing all the fun little things I want to. I may steal your idea! We have the green Chartreuse here, Alex likes it but I find it too herbally...I'll show him that recipe though! Oh last night we watched Abott and Costello meet Frankenstein, does that count lol? Actually my very favourite Frankie movie is the Mel Brooks comedy Young Frankenstein, we watch it every Halloween! :)

    1. Hey Rain! I sure wish I had your artistic skills to make it better, but thanks so much! Steal away! (lol) I had no idea they even made that movie, and I bet it was so much fun to watch. I loved Young Frankenstein, and probably watched it 3-4 times. Happy November! Hugs...RO

  11. I can't see investing 1000 bucks in an I Phone, but this is coming from a guy who doesn't carry one anyways, but if I did I hope the price would be a little more reasonable.

  14. Wish MY Walmart had those stickers for a dime. I can't believe it. Even fifty cents is a bargain.

Boy, do I feel like I live under a rock. I've never seen a Frankenstein movie, never watched the Price is Right, and don't own a cell phone, much less an I Phone. And every year when Hallmark comes out with their Christmas stuff, I turn off Movies and Mysteries, the one Hallmark Channel I usually like. I can't take all those Christmas movies year after year, although I might watch the 12 new ones on HM&M.

I actually LIKE your planner. It really puts mine to shame. Mine is not a planner, though, but a record of my daily activities. How many times can this boring person write "did laundry," etc. Have a great weekend, dear Ro.

    1. Elizabeth, you are just so fun, and I'd totally love hanging out with you because your sense of humor is fab! (LOL) My friends think I'm nuts because I actually watch these movies year after year on both of their channels AND I have the audacity to even tape a few. Like you, I'm looking forward to the new ones. No way would I pay $1000 for a phone, but I know some people are into gadgets and things. LOL, I'm one of those same people that write laundry and library every Sunday! Like minds, unite! Hugs and Happy November RO

  18. I had no idea Frankenstein had his own holiday! I definitely need to add that in to my watching/reading schedule next year. I'm so excited about the Hallmark Christmas movies. I have a bunch from last year on my Tivo that I never got around to watching.

  19. Poor Frankenstein. Almost 200 years later, and still no one ever seems to notice that Frankenstein is the doctor's name, and the monster is just simply called Frankenstein's monster (nameless).

  20. I have been trying to get my organized myself... I usually do it on my phone planner but I think I need something I can write on and decorate that will be right in front of me (I too am not creative with my drawings, many of my family got that talent... mine more with writing my heart.

I wish Canada had double coupon day, I would totally clean up and save a bundle... but coupons are no where near as big as they are in the US xox

    1. Sometimes it seems like there is so much going on, and it gets overwhelming, particularly when you throw in not feeling well. What I like about the Planner is that they come in so many different sizes. I have a friend who keeps hers in a purse, but I need to carry mine around. That's interesting. I thought coupons were the rage everywhere. I learned something new! Hope you're doing well Lovely Launna! Hugs...RO

  21. I have used spell casting to get my ex wife back to me and also she got pregnant with twins through the help of a great and trusted spell caster. When I came online last year, I met a testimony about Prophet Abulele who has been helping people and I decided to contact him. We spoke on email at prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com and he said he would also help me get DIANA back in three days after 3 years of no contact and also he told me he send me some herbs to make her get pregnant for me. You know when your spouse leaves you; you feel your whole world start crumbling down. There is nothing that seems right anymore. When I met Prophet Abulele, he is the best spell caster I must say. My wife called me after 3days and when I received herbal medicine for fertility, she became fertile. I and my wife reconnected, had sex and she became pregnant. I am happy today to be the father of twin’s girls and this is ALL THANKS TO Prophet Abulele. If you need help, you are saved with this spell caster, contact his email at prophetabulelehealingtemple@gmail.com or directly on whats App him +2349022406159 and you too will give a testimony too to help others.
