WHAT'S YOUR ALL TIME PET PEEVE & NATIONAL DRINK A BEER DAY

According to Merriam-Webster, a Pet Peeve is something that annoys or bothers a person very much. As a kid, not only was I a tomboy, but I was also very short on patience, causing me to get into all kinds of trouble and arguments.  It wasn't until joining the USAF that I realized the importance of tact and kindness when speaking with others.  So you already know that my pet peeve would have to be cruelty of any kind.  I hate to see animals abandoned on the street, women with black eyes, seeing human trafficking on the news, or hearing someone degraded in person or via social media because of their looks, sexual orientation, political affiliation, sex, or race.  The other thing that really bugs me is cheating. I don't want to read about it in a book  watch a movie that has it as the main theme, and pray for me, but if you're a friend and cheat on your husband or wife, I'll never look at you the same again, and the trust will be gone, gone, gone. Yes, that's pretty extreme I know, but I consider that yet another cruel way to mistreat someone.    Those who know they are going to cheat, probably shouldn't waste their own time or anyone else's by even getting married.

Almost everyone has something that someone does that really gets on their nerves.  What's your pet peeve?

NATIONAL DRINK A BEER DAY
Get your frosted beer mugs out because according to www.Intoxicologist.net, September 28 is National Drink a Beer Day. This is not to be confused with National Beer Day which is actually in April! Apparently whoever came up with these two holidays really wanted the opportunity to have everyone join in the fun of drinking.

NATIONAL STRAWBERRY CREAM PIE DAY
But if you're not a beer drinker and would rather eat your treat instead, take advantage of those juicy strawberries you were wondering what to do with that everyone forgot about in the fridge. (lol)

MALT BALL AND CHOCOLATE CHUNK RED VELVET COOKIES & SUPERPOWERS

Before we get started, let's give a super shout out to my girl Kim of http://caffeinatedbookreviewer.com/, who lovingly does her weekly meme every Sunday about news, reviews, books and other great info.  Now onto our rockin' recipe which includes Whoppers!

I haven't tried these cookies, but when I noticed it on Pinterest, I knew I needed to make some very  soon!  This delightfully decadent treat comes courtesy of Jenny Flake from Picky-Palate.com.(Hi Jenny!) She also has a cookbook that's listed below!

Malt Ball & Chocolate Chunk Red Velvet Cookies

Ingredients

1 Stick Softened Unsalted Butter
1 Box Red Velvet Cake Mix
1 Large Egg
3 Tablespoons Vegetable or Canola Oil
1 Cup Chocolate Chunks
1 Cup Coarsely Chopped Malt Balls

Directions

1.  Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and line your baking sheet with a silpat liner or parchment paper.
2.  Place butter, cake mix and vegetable or canola oil into a large mixing bowl or standing mixer.  Combine all the ingredients until a dough forms.  Stir in the chocolate chunks and malt balls. bake for 10-12 minutes until baked through, then let cool placing on a serving tray.  Jenny says they are great at room temp, and even better when chilled!

STICKY FINGERS IN WALMART
The other day I had to pick up some ginger, which helps with nausea, and is a pretty tasty spice that's great in Indian recipes.  I stood in line with a cashier who's worked there for about 7 years.  You already know there was a hold-up in the line, which happens to me all the time, giving the perfect opportunity (as usual-lol) to chat.  The weather during that time of day was about 72 degrees, but the gentleman in front of me had on a coat.  The cashier and I talked while she waited for what I thought was a price check for this man for some green beans.  We were laughing, and she was still managing to engage with this customer, until the manager arrived.  He did something with the register, the man paid for his merchandise, and then left. However, the manager was right on his heels.  The cashier couldn't wait to tell me that she tried to think of everything she could to hold this guy's attention until the manager showed up.  That coat he had on was stolen, and she had seen him place several items in the pockets!!!!!  I paid for my item, and sure enough, right near the entrance, the manager had that man in a room, waiting for the cops to come.   I have to be honest and say that I felt sorry for the guy because he was going to jail, and he may have had a family at home waiting for him.  Perhaps he needed those things he took.  Still stealing is never right.  Now because of poor judgment, his friends and family would have to come up with money to get him out of jail.
I've met amazing people who are talented beyond belief.  They can fix anything, cook gourmet meals, create nail designs, draw fantastic portraits and lots more.  I don't have many talents, but one I can brag about is refurbishing whacked out Barbie Dolls. (lol)  Yep, those dolls that you throw out because someone went crazy drawing on their face with a marker, or have matted up hair that looks outrageous, I end up getting FREE or for next to nothing in most instances. Yay!  Then I put my superpowers to work fixing them back up with better hair and new clothes.  Well...sort of new.  Most of my doll outfits are from 1999 - 2003 and in the package, so maybe it's better to say vintage new. (lol) Some I sell, some I give away to hospitals, but more often than not they end up on display or placed in boxes. So what's your Superpower?

HOW LONG CAN YOU SURVIVE WITHOUT YOUR CELL PHONE?

I may be the only person in the world who feels like this, but carrying around a cell phone just isn't all that important to me.  I'm also the person who still keeps most important contacts in a Spongebob Address Book. Not worrying about a cell phone may come from severe burnout from once being in the Call Center industry for about a zillion years.  I was On Call 24/7, having to answer phones at any given time of the day or night for customer emergencies or staffing issues, in addition to being on the phone in the office.  I even had a frantic call once while having a GYN exam because my boss lost his calendar and had forgotten where I was! This was also the same boss who only had time for passengers to get just one leg and cheek in the car, before dashing off with a

vengeance. We learned to literally do full body dives inside his car to avoid driving off without our doors being closed. He was an intense and funny guy who happened to always be in a rush. (LOL)

Most people who are calling want me to do something, so I'm probably avoiding them anyway. (lol) Meanwhile, they'll leave detailed voicemails, (do people still use those?)which may not even get noticed until 2-3 days later because I can never remember where I left the dang phone! So the best way to reach out to me is usually through messages via Social Media, or by email.  Those I can never lose.
Rest in Peace, my funny friend

Everyone used to have house phones, but very few people have those these days.  There are giant phones, tablets and small phones that people use so they are easily reached almost every second of the day.  People are chatting in line at the grocery store, having conversations in the doctor's office, or going on hikes with phones.  They're in our purse, on our hips, in our hands or on stands beside us.

But what about you?  Can you live without your cell phone? Have you ever misplaced it? Would it cause a major disaster if you lost it?

According to www.themeparkinsider.com, there are some things you should know before heading out to your fave amusement park this weekend.

For all the young people(or people my age-lol) who think they can proudly make out in those dark rides, think again.  Smile - you're on not one, but many cameras for safety and security reasons.  If you really want to get crazy in love, choose that moment to get into a fight, or make fun of the person in front of you, the employee who catches you on screen will grab popcorn, then ask the rest of the team to come check out all the action too (lol)

For some reason lots and lots of cats love to hang out in Disneyland once you've gone home exhausted and the park is closed.  Even better, the cats are treated like kings and queens, and it's a win-win situation.  They are fed and vaccinated, and the park gets rid of any pesky rodents who dare to visit.

The best way to save some of your money so you can spend more on treats, is to NOT purchase your tickets at the park.  You can get deals from AARP, by being a veteran, some companies offer them, and on-line at the park you want to visit.

TINY, TINY HOMES
The trend to live in tiny homes started in 2003, but everyone is jumping on the bandwagon these days by doing some serious downsizing.  These homes average 300 - 450 square feet, which sounds super small, but when you look at the finished product, it just seems totally amazing that it works.  The builders can fit all sorts of things in those houses.  The cost to build one can start at just $10,000 and go up to much more, depending on your tastes. You can find out more by watching FYI or HGTV. If you had the choice, (and the funds) would you live in a tiny house, a regular home or a mansion?
