WOULD YOU TRAVEL TO MEET BLOGGER FRIENDS IN PERSON?

Chocolate Almonds, Romantic Bookmark, Cowboy Lovin',
and a lovely card from KM
Had you asked me 5 years ago if I would ever be on any type of Social Media, I would have quickly rolled my eyes and shook my head.

Most Bloggers interact via Social Media in some form, which includes Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Tsu, etc.  There are probably a lot more, but the young people are in the know about those. (lol)

As Bloggers, we chat with people with similar interests who could live as close as 20 minutes or as far as 13 hours away.  We bond and eventually build friendships that are totally fun, yet unexpected.

I've met several, including one person with the initials  KM, who has to be one of the kindest people I've ever known in my life with a wonderful sense of humor.  Almost every Blogger I've communicated with has something in common with me, which is amazing.  Despite those similar interests, there are just some instances where you just "click" with someone.

For me, if you have my phone number or address, and we're interacting regularly, I feel safe enough to spend time with you, and because I love an adventure, I'll drive to meet, time permitting.  I can also be bribed with chocolate!

But what about you?  Would you get on a plane or go down the street to hang out with friends you've met online?

  1. I've already met in real life people I'd got to know on the net and it was wonderful. That was before I had children and my mom got sick, but I'm still doing it from time to time with other French librarians, some of whom live nearby.
I've also found a vegetarian Facebook friend who lives in the town where I take the train every day, our daughters have become friends ! Internet is great for that :) I'd love to travel and meet other bloggers, but I'm afraid it won't happen anytime soon, money and family obligations and all that... and my spoken English is very far from the one I use to write every day on my blog ! In my head, it sounds all right but my mouth often betrays me, lol !

  2. Ahhh Twitter. Six years ago, in the height of Twilight popularity, I met a whole bunch of ladies who were all ga-ga for Edward Cullen/Robert Pattinson. Some of them have become good friends of mine, and some I've lost contact with. Some of them I've met in person. I have no qualms meeting up with people even though I'm a bit shy at first. It's like first dates, almost. :) I have your phone number! I'll send you some dirty text messages. Lol.

    1. I was just talking about the Twilight books the other day with someone, as we agreed on the fact that we weren't true fans. (lol) That's a great example of connecting with someone with the same interests, and it turning into a friendship. X-Rated text messages sound fun! (lol) Hugs...

  3. Oh definitely! I've met up at events and gone out for food with a number of bloggers/readers I've met up with online during the last few years. I'd love to do a get together with all my favorites some day. How fun to hijack a hotel and just eat and visit and talk books?

    1. I hate that I missed the last outing. Let's face it, any reason to eat and chat about books and I'm all in whenever possible. Do I hear the possibility of a luxury suite coming in the near future for North Carolinians? (lol) Hugs...
