SATURDAY STUFF AND CRAZY LAWS

If you've been reading this blog, you may notice that twice a year, I'll post about dumb laws for a particular state. Today, Pennsylvania hit the lottery, with a focus on certain cities.  I'm sure you'll be scratching your head like I did. (lol)

Carlisle
In the middle of town, one must pay a fee of $50 dollars a year to park on a particular block.
Connellsville
One’s pants may be worn no lower than five inches below the waist.
Danville
All fire hydrants must be checked one hour before all fires.
Millville
The sale of alcohol is prohibited.
One may not shoot any dog that is found wandering the streets.
Morrisville
It is required that a woman have a permit to wear cosmetics.
Newtown
Every outlet or switch (which can be purchased for 59 cents) that is installed requires an electrical inspection fee of 1 dollar and 33 cents.
Pittsburgh
No one is allowed to sleep on a refrigerator.
It is still illegal to bring a donkey or a mule onto a trolley car.

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A  VICTIM OF GOSSIP?
As a kid, I gossiped and talked about people all the time.  I thought it was cute and funny. Never mind that it got me into all kinds of trouble.  Then it happened to me, and the shoe was on the other foot.  Once I got older, I realized that if something was going on, it made much more sense to address it directly with that person, rather than stabbing him or her in the back.  If we've pissed you off or offended you in some manner, let's just get it out in the open so it can be addressed.  No one wants to see their name plastered across the world of social media, or to hear something they've said come up at the company water cooler, or on the phone.  It hurts feelings, ruins work relationships, breaks up friendships or divides families. Sometimes the things being shared aren't even true, making it even worse!
Let's resolve it and move on.We know this in our head, yet, for some reason we still keep doing it, forgetting about the circle of kindness, and the wisdom of watching our tongues.

SETTLEMENT PAYMENTS
You would be simply amazed at all of the class action suits out there, ranging from Dentyne Gum you've chewed, mouthwash you've gargled, or diet pills you've ingested.  Sometimes you may find a one page posting in a magazine letting you know about the product in question, but if you want to know in real time about any open claims, and how you can be paid, sign up for FREE at http://www.topclassactions.com/.

FOOTBALL MANIA
Once upon a time during Superbowl 20, I was a football ninja, winning pools, discussing point spreads and knowing all the players by name.  Fast forward to 2016, and I have literally no clue what in the heck is going on.  What I do know is that there are football thingys are over the place to eat, purchase or look at.  Here's a few:

  1. I love dumb laws! I think for every dumb law they should have to list the reason as to why it exists because you just know there's a story! I love all the football stuff! Those brownie footballs look delicious and I could definitely have some deviled eggs right about now!

    1. Something about the smell of a deviled egg just turns me off, Kathy,(lol) but I agree on the brownie footballs. I could use some chocolate right about now. You're right! Never thought about the story behind it. Bet it's totally fun! Hugs...

    1. That's a good question Steph! I'd be surprised if someone did, but you never know, especially if it's a small city. They're really interesting to look at though. Hugs...

  5. is common sense not being used? I would like to see law makers follow these laws and see how silly some of them are.

I've never been a fan of football but I keep hearing about it so it must be something important enough to ignore, that is, by people like me who really don't care about it but any excuse to eat odd-shaped, junk food than I'm up for it.

    have a lovely day.

  6. I used to read through city laws like that. It's amazing what is still on the books.

Oh yes, gossip breaks a lot of relationships down and hurts so many. I'd like to say I'm not guilty, but I can say that I'm working on it b/c it is best to speak 'to' and not 'about' people.

You sound like me when it comes to Superbowl. I used to really get into it, but now unless my team is involved, I have little interest. But the food and company is good. :)

    1. Totally agree, and wonder how many people even know about them so they don't get into trouble. Glad I have a kindred spirit. (lol) No, no to gossip. I've learned the hard way for sure. I like Angela's idea of watching the Puppy Bowl instead*heh*.

  10. Sleeping on a refrigerator, LMAO, I never would have thought about it ! And I'm bigger than the top of my fridge, by the way, I couldn't sleep on it if I tried :D I once read about how it's illegal to have sew with a hedgehog (ouch !) and I've been wondering since how on Earth those laws came to be, what were the circumstances ? I hate gossip, I try not to listen to it and don't even read people magazines :) Have a great week, RO <3

  11. HEY RO RO! All o this lovely food! (Goo0 thing I just ate because I would have to go ADN make me some of those chocolate covered strawberries!) *drools* teehee! I've never been one to to gossip and I rarely have problems with people but that isn't to say I haven't been gossiped about. I'm sure we all have. I'm just a kind of go with the flow kind of gal and I try to stay away from all of that although sometimes (most of the time) it's pretty much unavoidable. ;)

    1. I know, right? Food, food, food! You're right, in some instances it may be unavoidable, and I agree, if possible, it's best to stay away if at all possible. I hate to see hurt feelings. Hope all is well! BIG Hugs...
