TASTY BAKED BUFFALO WINGS & STUFF

Ingredients & Directions

  • Prep
  • Cook
  • Ready In
  1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil, and lightly grease with cooking spray. Place the flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt into a resealable plastic bag, and shake to mix. Add the chicken wings, seal, and toss until well coated with the flour mixture. Place the wings onto the prepared baking sheet, and place into the refrigerator. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  3. Whisk together the melted butter and hot sauce in a small bowl. Dip the wings into the butter mixture, and place back on the baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven until the chicken is no longer pink in the center, and crispy on the outside, about 45 minutes. Turn the wings over halfway during cooking so they cook evenly. I love any recipe that includes cayenne, so if you want your wings a little spicier, feel free to add more, or even throw in some hot sauce to keep those tongues tinglin'.  This is a great treat for a Superbowl or Puppy Bowl Party.

ON-LINE DATING

I'll be the first to admit to being nervous about on-line dating.  I just don't have the courage to exchange pictures and talk to perfect strangers with the intent of eventually hooking up.  However, just about everyone I know has done it, or is thinking about doing it.  My son met his fiance via the Internet and so did his best friend.  A close friend of mine, almost exclusively dates the people she meets on various dating sites and she loves it.  If you have been reading my blog, you already know that I look for the funny things that happen in life to entertain myself, and my friend has lots of funny stories to tell when it comes to Internet hook-ups.  Mostly they relate to her "rules".  Before you get mad at me, she knows I write about her, so she's cool, as long as I don't use her name. *heh*.

1.  No, she does not want to meet any professors, because she says they will be too obnoxious and focused on talking about education all day long.

2.  No, she does not want to be wined and dined at McDonald's or Burger King to "get to know one another".

3.  Short men need not apply.  She'll just feel like she's walking with one of her grandkids.

4.  No pic, no conversation.

5.  Don't meet on the date, then expect her to loan you some cash because you're a little low.

I haven't met any of her dates, but I've heard all about them, seen photos, and offered my often unwanted opinion. (lol)  'Nuff said.

GAME SHOWS
The other day while getting gas, two of the clerks were discussing The Price is Right, and they happened to be in their 20's.  They must have figured  I was pretty old, because they asked me if I preferred Bob Barker or Drew Carey as the host.  For those who care to know, The Price is Right actually debuted in 1972. All the years I watched Mr. Barker, I was impressed with his professionalism and ability to draw in his guests, but every day I see Drew Carey, I totally love his crazy sense of humor and funny comments.  So I told the kids I enjoyed Bob Barker when he was the host, but now that Drew is in charge, he's my fave, too. By the way, watching everyone win those prizes is very cool, but no one actually gets to leave with them after the show.  Basically, there's a ton of paperwork to sign, agreeing to pay the taxes, so it may be better to win cash.  Do you watch?

SEX EDUCATION
When I was a kid, the only thing my mom drilled in my head over and over again, was to not have sex prior to marriage.  She told me "Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free", more times than I care to admit.  Fast forward to present day, and sex education is being taught to kids who are 5.  Some say it's a good way to help them recognize abuse, and others think that's way too young to be talking about the birds and the bees.  What are your thoughts?

  1. I've made hot wings using Frank's hot sauce. I wouldn't use cayenne if I was using that. lol But if you like it really hot that would be good.

  2. I'm so sad that CSI Cyber is cancelled. I figured it would be but I really enjoyed it! I met my husband and work when I was 22 and before online dating was really a common thing so it was never something I thought about too much. I love your friend's rules! I don't think there's anything wrong with online dating and I know there have been a lot of successful relationships through that. I don't think I would have a problem with any of my kids using online dating as long as they were careful (and it goes without saying - adults!) Those wings! Yum! I had wings for lunch but you've got me wanting more!

    1. I had some mixed feelings about CSI Cyber. The rapport between the characters was pretty good, but something about the acting sort of had me doing the "hmmm, what's up with that" thing. The young people are all about the Internet, and I know it's the thing, but don't think I would go that route. You had wings for lunch and I missed it?! (lol) Hugs...RO

Oh that look so good, my goodness this is not the time for me to be licking my lips, its 3:42 am in the morning. Am going to bed. You and your temptations....lol

  4. Oh, those look and sound tasty, RO...I must try this recipe, thank you.
No favorite TV shows here. I've been reading more because I've been bored with what has been on TV. I do love documentaries so I watch a number of those when they have something that interests me. I usually record them on our DVR so that I can fast forward through the ton of commercials that take over the shows now...

    1. To be honest, I really don't either, but if I don't, I'll literally stay glued to a computer or a book all day. Of course, many are probably wondering what else I do all day! (lol) Hugs...

  7. Those buffalo wings sound amazing, and even if I just had dinner, I wouldn't mind some. I'm going to copy-paste that recipe, as it also sounds pretty easy :)
I'm so glad I'm not on the dating market! Not only because online dating sounds scary, but because I don't think I could be bothered with all the getting to know each other stuff... My mom (yup, my MOM, who's a little over 60) got married a few years ago to a guy she met online, so I know it's possible, though.
    Thanks for sharing, Ro xoxo

  8. I met my husband on an online dating site. My advice...always meet someone for the first time somewhere like Starbucks. I had way too many long, awkward meals with someone I knew wasn't going to work out. Usually you know within the first few seconds whether it's a "no," and on those many occasions, you want out as soon as you can gracefully do so. I will say, though, you will have INTERESTING blog material if you start online dating. I had a huge readership back when I was dating online, over on the blog I had on MySpace.

    1. Yikes, Steph! I can't imagine sitting in a restaurant while a date has gone horribly wrong, and hugs to you! Thank goodness you met a keeper out of all that, for sure. I think you're right. Something just clicks when you meet someone usually, but there have been a few times when I was younger that I was fooled on a blind date. Totally agree that a dating Blog would be super fun! 9. Oh, and I was so engrossed in the chicken wings the other day, I didn't even see your question about sex education! I think it's important for kids to know about sex, about what is Ok and not when it comes to touching, and to learn about consent and protection at an early age. But then again, I had sex-ed in school when I was around 7, and I also had parents who answered any and all questions I had about the subject.

    1. That's awesome that your parents were focused on this so you could gain knowledge about this important topic at a good age. Parental support along with what happens in school is so important! Hope your weekend has been fab! Hugs...

  10. I made wings once years and years ago for a party back home. I do wish there was a good veggie alternative. I've seen cauliflower used ones. Hmmm might try that out with the rest of the recipe :D

    LOL on CSI Cyber.

    1. If I find a veggie switcharoo, I'll definitely let you know. CSI Cyber was a good idea, but something about the acting just sort of irritated me. I hate to see anyone lose a job, but it seems like others saw something a little shaky, too. (lol) Hugs...
