We're already into September, and unlike my other bookish friends, I managed to finish just 3 books. They were all really good thrillers by Ben Coes, Brad Thor and Daniel Silva that I should have finished quickly, but it didn't happen. I definitely need to pick it up a notch this month.
Despite being a little slow in my own blog responses, I've been meeting many new blogger friends and absolutely loving it! Some of the things I've learned have been phenomenal. I've also been watching way more movies than I probably should have, and being addicted to couponing hasn't helped either.
Meanwhile, I'm planning a yard sale that offers up support to the veterans, downsizing at home and exercising more. In order to stay motivated, music has to be included with the exercise. So to all the young people out there, yes, I still use a Walkman and not that Fitbit thingy everyone keeps raving about. (lol)
September is National Courtesy Month, which is fantastic, but there are a few days that I'm particularly excited about, and include:
September 5 - National Be Late for Something Day. I think this will be fun to show to the owner of a company, don't you?
September 6 - National Read a Book Day. Nothing wrong with stopping during the middle of the day to finish a really good novel.
September 8 - International Literacy Day
September 14 - National Cream-Filled Donut Day - Yes!
September 18 - National Cheeseburger Day - Yay! They made this day just for me!
Are you grillin' it up this weekend and want to try something new to wow your guests? If you can find the potato sticks in the grocery store where you live, this is the way to go!
CUBAN FRITA DOG
Chop up a bowlful of white onions
Pour Potato Sticks into a bowl
Grill the hotdogs to your desired doneness
Add your ketchup first, then add the rest of your ingredients for a crunchy treat
Chop up a bowlful of onions & green peppers
Add garlic mayonnaise and yellow mustard.
It's best to use fresh pineapple for this, but if you just have it in the can, be sure to rinse the chunks well. Then finely chop them before adding on top. You'll be surprised how good this is.
Remember when we had to pile in the sugar to get it to the right sweetness? Sometimes that was an ordeal! (lol) Now, I drink Oolong or Green Tea because of the calorie burn. It's certainly healthy, but I can't say it's my all time fave.
My drink of choice will always be lemonade in almost every form. Are you a tea drinker?
