FUN FRIDAY STUFF

Before we get started, I'm way behind on responding to posts because of other projects, and so sorry!  I'll get caught up by next week.

Also,  I was a little unnerved when the neighbor right beside me had his home broken into the a few days ago.  When things like that occur, everyone starts imagining all these weird scenarios and of course, I was no exception.  I started thinking about every Halloween or Friday the 13th movie I've ever seen when I was a kid.

Thankfully, he wasn't home, (in fact, he only lives there maybe 2 days a week) but does need to purchase a new television and Firestick.

SAUCES/TOPPINGS
I love trying new flavors, and thought I'd pass some of these toppings and sauces for hot dogs, sandwiches, potatoes or hamburgers.

GINGERY MAYO
Stir together 1/2 Cup Mayo, 2 Tbsp Sriracha, 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce and 1 Tsp Grated Peeled Ginger

REUBEN
Stir together 1/3 Cup Mayo, 1/4 Cup Sauerkraut, 2 Tbsp Relish, 1 Tbsp Ketchup, 1 Tbsp Spicy Brown Mustard, and 1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder.  Serve on a sandwich, hot dog or burger with melted Swiss Cheese

SOUTH OF THE BORDER
Divide 1 ripe Avocado, lightly mashed, 1/4 Cup Cup crumbled  Cotija or feta cheese and 16 slices pickled jalapeno. (or less of you don't like spicy)

BLAME IT ON THE ALCOHOL
Have you ever had a party at your home and one of the guests went way over the limit? Inappropriate things were said, dishes were destroyed, or the person was too touchy feely with the rest of the guests. I've known some friends who already came to the party tipsy.  Back in the day, he or she may have been simply ignored or laughed at.  Today, experts say the very first thing to do, is to no longer serve alcohol to that person, then somehow get the car keys. Calling a cab or Uber is considered rude and potentially unsafe, so  be generous and offer a space on the couch or in the spare bedroom for the night.  If you don't have the room, please personally take your guest home.

BINGING
Are you one of those people who watch Law & Order even though you've already seen every episode?  Do you have favorite characters? I'm raising my hand, because some I've seen at least 3-4 times. (lol)  Originally broadcast in 1990, the show is tied with Gunsmoke  as the longest running primetime drama in history.

CAN YOU PICTURE THIS?
If you've been reading this blog, you know that when I was a kid, I played a lot of practical jokes, and sometimes got into trouble.  The other day I reminisced a little and imagined putting these stickers on the bathroom hand dryer in a mall or restaurant to see what people would do. (lol)  They're a steal at $13.00 for a package of 50.

ARE YOU AN OUTDOOR CHEF
Guy Fieri loves cooking outside that he has an outdoor kitchen complete with a pizza oven outside his home in Santa Rosa, CA, and a 26 foot cooking trailer that he parks in his childhood home in Ferndale, CA.

A COOL RECORD
According to the Guinness World Book of Records, Agatha Christie's Miss Marple stories which include 12 books and 20 short stories make this the thickest book published with 4,032 pages!

How in the world can anyone justify setting his pregnant girlfriend on fire in Maryland, or for someone to leave a defenseless 1 year old child inside a hot vehicle right outside a school in Missouri?

The woman gave birth 7 weeks early and they are both in critical condition.  The child is dead.

  1. It is unnerving when there is a break in that close to you, you immediately go into defensive mode, I really hate a thief.

That voice activated hand blower would be a riot to watch haha.

The things that people can do to one another are horrifying, I couldn't do this to someone I hated much less to someone I supposedly loved, and come on we are supposed to be taking care of children, there is no excuse for leaving them in a hot car...or in the car at all.

    1. I was a little nervous for a few days, wondering if something else would happen for sure. Being a previous practical joker, I know I would have fallen down laughing seeing the response to that hand blower. I agree with you, it saddens me that people can actually be so cruel and not feel bad about it. Leaving animals and people in cars is ridiculous!! Hugs...RO

  3. RO a break in at a neighbor is very disturbing indeed. I live near where the toddler died in Missouri, I know its a terrible tragedy and I hope I never know anyone who is impacted by this and I hope that car manufacturers come up with more safe guards to protect children in the backseat. But I also know from the news and other reports that the woman went to pick her son up from daycare only to find she never dropped him off. I've also seen parents who have been featured on news programs who have left their children in cars, they were not monsters, they will never be the same because of it and now that the husband ( the guilty party) has been released from prison they are going around the country to hopefully stop this from happening to anyone else. The above case was also a boy, it was during a family celebration, the husband was sent to drop off the child when usually the mother did, a real domino effect and still no excuse but he didn't expect one and will live with the fact that because of his actions his son died.
I'm not exactly sure what happened in the Missouri case yet but having lost someone dear to me because of someone else's negligence I try to see both sides.

    1. I agree, it's good to look at both sides, because we can't be inside someone else's mind to determine intent. Particularly when someone is experiencing emotional breakdowns or mental illness. We hate to hear about it, and you're right, there is a domino effect for all involved. Thanks so much Debbie! Hugs...RO

  4. Hi RO. I hope your place is safe...I had a break in, long ago in my first apartment and it made me feel so unnerved. We have natural alarms in our dogs though, so we feel very safe. I used to watch Law and Order, and Jerry Orbach was my absolute favourite...loved him!

    2. I'm still hooked and hated when Jerry Orbach passed from cancer. It does help to have pets at home who can hear things before we do, so thank goodness for that! Hugs...RO

  5. OMG!!!Turn around and look in the back seat if you have children...then you won't have any excuse for forgetting they were in the car!!! It takes all of five seconds!!! Do it even if you have a pet in the car. No more excuses. I am sick and tired of these sweet babies and toddlers being left in cars because their parents are to busy to be parents first!!!

A break-in right next door would be terrifying. We have a 90 lb. Pit Bull alarm that hears every sound...love him so much and he is very protective!

Have a nice Friday and weekend RO 💮

    1. Hey Jan! I hope you're doing well. Stopped by to see your latest post a few minutes ago, and look forward to seeing you soon. It's definitely rough to hear about our animals and kids being left in cars, and traumatic for all involved. Thank goodness you have such a good friend who hears things and can keep you protected. I'll bet your Pit Bull is adorable! Hugs...RO

The sauces looked quite interesting .. cheers Hilary

  7. A few years ago one of our neighbours homes was broken into. She was home at the time, hanging washing on the line. These days, our doors are locked. Firmly. Such a change from when I was growing up when no-one locked their doors. Progress has been a very mixed bag.
Love the voice activated stickers. I would love to put them in lifts/elevators.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. My goodness, your neighbor had to have been so shocked and scared. Thank goodness she's okay!! I agree that the doors need to be firmly locked these days. Like you, our doors stayed pretty much open and traffic could walk in and out with no issues. Things sure have changed. I like that idea about the voice activated stickers in an elevator. Can you imagine?(lol) Hugs...RO

  8. I have no context about those two stories. The pregnant woman and the kid...but does that mean the people responsible walked free? Just what the f, no that can never be justified

    1. I always hate to hear about the plight of the homeless, and can imagine they felt desperate to break in. Still, homeless or not, breaking the law and trespassing is NOT the answer. Kudos to Ken for speaking up and doing the right things. Hugs...

  10. I never felt the same about my own home when our house was broken into while I was in school so I get being unnerved by it happening next door. I like your Southwest border dip ingredients.

    Love that outdoor kitchen.

  11. Gingery mayo- yum. I love sauces and combining different flavors, spices. LOL at "voice activated." :) And I SO need a pizza oven.

Sorry to hear about the break-in though. We were broken into once when i was a kid (we were on vacation) and it's pretty disturbing.

    1. I watch so many foodie shows and have so many cookbooks it's crazy! So when I can I enjoy creative flavors that are new. As a previous practical joker, I would totally love putting that in a bathroom and standing back to see what happens, because I love a good giggle.(lol)

It was a little unnerving to hear about that, but all was okay after a few days thank goodness. I was just happy that the gentleman next door, who is older, wasn't home and hurt. Hugs...RO

  14. I'm probably even later than you, Ro, because its Saturday here.

One year when I was out of state for a conference, my home was broken into. I had given my house key to my next door neighbor to watch my house and her grandson stole the key and broke in. He and his friends did an incredible amount of damage to the house, including dripping wax on my carpet and antique furniture, not to mention overturning furniture, throwing all the freezer food on the table, and nearly destroying my office. The lesson I learned was, know the person you leave a spare key with! I'd say your neighbor got off lucky.

I've been known to binge on L&O, too. Some I've seen so many times I'm sick of them.

Not sure what the world is coming to, and I don't get it, either. Leaving children in hot cars is an epidemic, and happens more than we care to admit. Setting fire to pregnant women, not so much!

    1. OMG - That is absolutely horrible that such damage occurred to your home, and to have it happen by someone you trusted. I can imagine your hurt and anger when you came home to that nightmare!!!! I agree, the neighbor was definitely blessed. I don't know why I watch Law and Order so much, or even Hallmark Christmas movies, or cooking shows so much, but I'm glad to not be totally alone with my obsession. (lol) The world sure has changed, Elizabeth. I just seek kindness. Hugs...and Happy Wednesday! RO

  15. As usual, a great post, Rockin Ro:)
Those sauces looks luscious. I could see them on a Faux Dog:)
I bet you were a cute little trickster:)
I Don't Get It either. Some people are just evil. It would be doubly hard to know a loved one did that to you.
I haven't read anything on either case. Was there any mitigating circumstances for leaving the child in the car? Did the person just not understand what heat can do?
And speaking of heat, way off topic here, we're without AC and waiting for a new unit. The folks installing, who really are nice by the way, said their first concern were for those that didn't have heat....Really? In NC where the temperature is going to be approaching 90 this week? Shaking head.

    1. Hey Super Sandra, I always enjoy trying something new, and have a zillion cookbooks to prove it. As you know, I'm also a sucker for just about every cooking show on tv. I was always into something as a kid, but while I still tend to giggle way too much, I'm much calmer and safer to be around. (lol)

No heat in 90 degree weather? I don't get it! Hugs...RO

  16. Yes, it is very un-nerving when a close neighbour has their home broken into.
The mind goes into overdrive doesn't it and often takes a time to settle back into routine.

  22. I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
