GLAUCOMA AND VISION LOSS

When I was diagnosed with glaucoma 4 years ago, I really never gave it a second thought, forgetting to take the prescribed medication and not taking it seriously. At one point, I even forgot I had the disease.
As a Blogger, Book Reviewer and self-confessed nerd, books are my life, so I should have paid much more attention.  I also should have listened to my son, who already thinks I'm a nut case. (lol)
Fast forward to the present, where I'm worse off than I should be, suffering many of the symptoms I never thought would happen to me.
If you can, be sure to get your vision checked regularly, and see a physician if you experience unusual eye pain or blurred vision.  Pay attention to YOU!
You are at increased risk of glaucoma if your parents or siblings have the disease, if you are African-American or Latino, and possibly if you are diabetic or have cardiovascular disease. The risk of glaucoma also increases with age.

Symptoms of Glaucoma

  • Hazy or blurred vision
  • The appearance of rainbow-colored circles around bright lights
  • Severe eye and head pain
  • Nausea or vomiting (accompanying severe eye pain)
  • Sudden sight loss
