Before choosing a date for your wedding, try to get an idea about special events going on around the same time. This includes Marathons, NBA All Star Games, Olympics.etc. which could cause a hotel or traffic nightmare for guests coming in from out of town.  If you're a wedding planner, stay away from the month of June!

Friends will be talking about your special day for all the wrong reasons, so ditch that cash bar!  Stay budget friendly and elegant by offering one red and one white wine.  If your bottles are the standard 750 ML, you can expect to get 5-6  wine glasses.  If you decide to use wine boxes which are normally 3 liters, expect to get about 20 glasses.  You can even offer a signature Sangria that's fruity and fun! If the venue allows you to purchase your own wine, that's the best way to go.

HONEYMOONS - Everyone talks about going on cruises or to the Bahamas after the wedding, but there are lots of other places that may be just as memorable to celebrate.  Here are a few where you can dare to be different:

The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
Brunswicks Islands - North Carolina
Blackberry Farm - Tennessee
Buttermilk Falls Inn - New York
Grand Sirens Rivera Maya Resort and Spa - Mexico
Naples Beach Hotel - Florida

Do some research and look around in the state that's right next door to where you live. You'll be amazed at what's available by driving just a few hours away from home.

  1. I looked up a couple of those Honeymoon spots you mentioned...they also look like nice settings for a romance novel. Thanks for the post.

    1. Angela, you are brilliant! Never thought about some of those being backdrops for a novel. I imagine the peace and quiet would allow for some good writing. Hugs...

  2. Awww this post gave me ALL THE FEELS. <3 It now has me thinking about how I'd like to have my honeymoon: I like road trips and cruises, so I was thinking a week of road trip traveling to the cruise ship, then take in the cruise ship for about a week or 4 days. ;) Thanks for helping me come to a decision lol

  6. I think this would be a great win for a couple getting married... especially with the price of weddings these days xox

I made a decision that even if I started dating, I would not update my FaceBook... I see too many people do that too quickly... I would have to be in a very long term loving relationship before I announced it.. Have a great week Ro and thank you so much for dropping by to check on me xox

    1. Weddings are so expensive these days for sure. Would love to hear about someone winning this for sure. Interesting and solid point about Facebook. Gotta make sure the man truly loves and adores you before he gets to be bragged about! (lol) Hugs...

  7. I'm SO glad my wedding days are over. That was a LOT of work. The second time, we did an all-inclusive wedding, but there were still little details we had to take care of, so it wasn't stress-free at all. I should've eloped!

    1. You are so right about that, Steph! I worked with a Wedding Planner, and also a Caterer and all those little pieces to make it work were time consuming. Once it's done, it's done - thank goodness, right? On the rest of life and the fun stuff! Hugs...

  8. I love the facebook comic on top! It's very true in a way. haha Nice tips - honeymoons don't have to the typical fare by a long shot! It's nice to think outside the box.
